Isn't VW supposed to be the budget-brand?

^ It was a budget-branda t5 Bus can easy cost more then 50.000 euros. The budget brand is now Skoda or seat of the Vag Company. The only real budget brand from europe is Dacia.

I was reading the other day that Renault's Dacia is doing great in developing economies. Then again, doens't VW have a budget line-up in China, South Ameria and Africa. What do they want to do different now?

They do have in South America. The "Gol" and the Fox are their best examples.

Volkswagen boss, Martin Winterkorn has stated that production of a new super-budget car will start in 2015.

During an interview with a German magazine, Winterkorn said: “We are developing a budget car for the price range between €6000 and €7000. Some three million cars are sold in this segment each year in China alone.”

They could also revive one of their "dead" brands. I believe VAG owns Wartburg, for example.
