The front and the proportions are of course different but that's the least they can do. After all the exiting concepts they showed us, i was expecting from them to offer a REAL evolution of the vw design, and this car clearly doesn't olay the role.

Celebs Converge at VW Fete

Various beautiful people attended the party introducing VW's new Tiguan 1 Concept Car on Tuesday night. The event was held at Raleigh Studios in Los Angeles. Paris, Nicole, Ludacris, Hayden ("The Cheerleader") Panettiere, and Zooey Deschanel were among the personalities in attendance.

Volkswagen Tiguan in showrooms Fall 2007

The Volkswagen Tiguan was only unveiled in concept form last week, but a production model will arrive in showrooms in less than a year, VW spokesman Steve Keyes told Automotive News. A gasoline version will arrive in fall 2007, while a diesel model will go on sale even later in the year.

Like the Tiguan concept, the production crossover will make use of a Bluetec diesel engine, developed in cooperation with Mercedes. The Tiguan will be the only small SUV offered with a diesel engine in the United States.

If it's 27k euro in Germany...how much would that be here? Because, honestly if you convert euro to dollars....that's a whole lotta money. I don't think this is worth that much.

In the NA market it will be around 25k due to competition. In Europe VW is considered a semi luxury brand, clearly above Ford , Toyota and the rest but below Audi, BMW , Mercedes , so they can charge a lot more than in USA.

Tiguan aims for top

Bosses at VW have high hopes for the new Tiguan, one of the stars of last week's LA show

An insider said: "The Tiguan must be the most successful vehicle in its class, not an also-ran. But this won't be easy, so the range will be attractively priced." Current estimates suggest the Land Rover Freelander rival could cost less than £20,000.

The funky-looking Tiguan has a wide purposeful stance and has a full-length panoramic glass roof, sure to be a hit with family buyers.
