This picture is of the latest Hi-Po Golf called Golf RSI was taken from uk-mkivs blog.

What I can guess is this picture was taken at a Dealership/Model preview by VW Individual makers of the Cross & R brands within Volkswagen's model ranges.

Rumoured specs are either a 3.6 V6 or 2.0TFSI with 4Motion developing 280hp.

VW calling it the RSI is good move as this will not confuse buyers with the Passat R36 range.
Reading VW Driver magazine today Autometrix Publications - Audi Driver Magazine and Volkswagen Driver Magazine reveals that this model will have a very limited production run of 500 units.

Re: SCOOP: Volkswagen Golf RSI by VW Individual

It looks a little ricey in front... Will this replace the R32? Good call in naming it the RSI.

Ricey styling is from the Thunder Bunny Concept shown @ SEMA 2006 (Ricey Central)

It won't replace R32 as its a Limited Edition 500-900 to be made ;)

Re: SCOOP: Volkswagen Golf RSI by VW Individual

I guess it will get the 3.6L V6, but the 2.0L TFSI would be also great.

Re: SCOOP: Volkswagen Golf RSI by VW Individual

Both engine would be great...maybe the 2.0 TFSI of the Audi S3 with 265hp?! I think this could be a great combination... :D
...good looking car with a perfect engine!

Re: SCOOP: Volkswagen Golf RSI by VW Individual

Oh how I wish VW would do a R36 version of the Jetta with DSG!

Re: SCOOP: Volkswagen Golf RSI by VW Individual

Any word on whether this RSI will come in FWD or 4MOTION?

Re: SCOOP: Volkswagen Golf RSI by VW Individual

I'll hate them forever if they make this gorgeous looking car with 280 hp and FWD!

:t-cheers:

Unfortunately, it'd probably be FWD so as to differntiate it from the S3. :(

Since the R32 comes in 4MOTION, I'm pretty sure the RSI won't be an exception.;):t-cheers:

Re: SCOOP: Volkswagen Golf RSI by VW Individual

I really like the styling of the car, although I wonder if it won't get the same engine from the new passat R36, with 300 odd bhp! If that does happen it would be a very fast car indeed!

Re: SCOOP: Volkswagen Golf RSI by VW Individual

But then how should it differentiate itself from the S3? Or even worse, from being labelled as a souped-up R32?

1. R32 has a V6

2. S3 has 15-20hp less than RSI

3. RSI is a very limited edtion so it will hardly sell in S3 or R32 numbers ;)

I guess I can understand the R32 part (assuming that the RSI will be having a 2.0TFSI instead)... But I still see inevitable overlaps with the S3.

Re: SCOOP: Volkswagen Golf RSI by VW Individual

Very true ;)

LOL its not the 1st overlap and won't be the last :D

Just received a phone call from a VW Sales Manager I currently have my name down with for this RSI/R36.

He stated that in the last 2 weeks Volkswagen Marketing in Wolfsburg (one of his guys has just returned from Wolfsburg and heard it from the horses mouth) have now decided not to go ahead with the RSI/R36 (due to underlying cost reasons). The Sales Manager is a true petrol head/enthusiast and I kind of believe him
Make of it what you want but he stated that he is calling around the other people on this list to deliver the bad news[/I]

Hopefully this is just to throw off the media ;)

I believe the VW Golf RSI will have a 280 hp 2,0T FSI engine and 4Motion 4wd, if made.
