IMHO this very much previews the design of W223 S-class Maybach.

I think so too. The head and tail lights are different to those on the GLS mule. Interestingly their size is alot more realistic than those on the MM concept. However, the interior with its centre console handles are more GLS than S-Class.

The pentagon style grille is a surprise I am not feeling 100% about.

After studying some of the interior pics (because I can't bear to look at the comically hideous exterior), couple of observations...

- Excess gold looks tacky
- surprised they haven't moved on beyond the double screen set-up. Was hoping there would be some significant evolution of the dash in that respect that would provide some elegance.

It's a wacky concept to show styling cues as always. Usually Vision concepts are close to production, but in some cases they haven't been. Clearly MB won't put such an ugy shoe looking vehicle into production lol.

After the first impression I can say front is very nice, but rear lighhts, high profile and old-looking separeted screen (n)

Oh my God...:yuck:

That simply looks like a Volga. What on Earth were they thinking? Instead of a proper, ultimate luxury SUV we get this Chinese, cheap looking nonsense. The car is simply hideous and the ones behind the idea of launching it are plain idiots.

How can a brand like Mercedes-Benz come up with such major dissapointments? I mean, look at it...

Obviously, the numb Merc fanboys will cherish and adore it...

I have no dog in the BMW vs. MB fanboy fight you’re clearly insinuating, but the X7 Concept isn’t winning any beauty pageants either.

Darn the SUV/crossover loving global society we’re living in now...

I see quite a bit of "good" in this latest Maybach concepts' design. Imagining much of what is highlighted on an elegantly proportioned (think W223/C257) MRAevo or EQS platform leaves me admiring a highly desirable automobile. That oh so wee bit more edge benefits the "Sensual Purity" theme significantly.

At least, the X7 is a car.

I cannot say the same about this appalling creation from Maybach.

What the **** were they thinking designing this? It makes AMG GT4 look fabulous.

With the notorious love of Chinese towards Sedans, this, if eventually produced in similar form, could have a big success there. You guys are not thinking globally:)

The four giant wheels make the car's proportions look a little comical.

It's a S-Class Maybach on four giant wheels.

True. A screen that's more flush with the dash would be an improvement.

I prefer the exterior to the interior to be honest, and even ignoring the side profile - the exterior is already a far worse execution of the Vision Maybach theme than the previous two concepts.

Even though the interior shows some interesting details, the overall concept is also epitome of what I consider the stylistic dilemma Mercedes find themselves in. This thing clearly caters to the chinese taste (3-box, tacky, biiig, generic, etc.), probes niche potentials and may be far from a production vehicle but, still, there should be some overarching narrative and 'real' innovation (in tech and style). Mere provocation and a trunk are not enough.

I suspect it’s going to look better in real life photos compared to these shitty press shots. Not that it’s going to look good though.

But I’m not at all concerned as there’s only elements of this that will turn up on future production models, and those elements are very tasty indeed.

Mercedes-Maybach

In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
