A car as powerful as the Bugatti Veyron can do a great many things. Crest the 400 km/h mark. Burn through fuel and rubber faster than a jumbo jet on take-off with the parking brake engaged. But how about stop time? Maybe if you lay down all that twist in the opposite direction off the earth's rotation. Or bring back a rumor that first reared its head some four years ago.

We're talking about the long-rumored 1,200-horsepower "super Veyron." Its arrival has been anticipated for years, and now accounts from Germany are bringing it back to life. According to the reports, Professor Ferdinand Piëch – the former Volkswagen chairman, Porsche heir and father of the Veyron – recently delivered a lecture at the Vienna University of Technology, wherein he briefly alluded to the emergence of the 1,200-hp Veyron, but revealed no further details.

That the quad-turbocharged, sixteen-cylinder Bugatti engine is capable of more than its stated output of 987 horsepower is no secret. And if such a car is in the works, surely Piëch would be among the few in the world who'd know about it, even if he's not sitting in the big seat these days. With the existing Veyron's production run winding to a close, if there were ever a time to make it happen, surely that time is approaching at Veyron-esque velocity.

Finally!

Someone who is in the market for a Bugron should try and find one that is not a special edition, those are the rarest.

I understand your point but the special edition's were made for reason some of them to celebrate the centenaire of the Bugatti brand and some by customer special request and now you can find the individualization program which customers really asked for.

The Supersport is different car, it look different, perform differently and the technical aspect is also totally different. Its not a special edition its a series production car..

An unofficial 1200hp option has been avaiblable to Veyron buyers for a few years now.

That's not true on official unveiling of the SuperSport you will understand what's 200 extra horsepower to veyron needs.. If you're referring to the one called GT in USA its doesn't have the 1200 hp its normal veyron..

It's true unless my source lies, which I doubt.
The supersport will be a complete performance package. Something that deserves a longer name and alot of extra thingys to make it seem worth the SS name and price.
Simply adding more power and keeping your mouth shut is easier.

Am 100 % sure there is no 1200hp option for the standard veyron from a tech who service the Veyron's and I asked him about the so called GT .. I have seen the SS its totally different and you can't order the SS package on normal veyron.. I won't get into details about the car but on unveiling as I said you will see what the normal veyron need in order to coop the extra 200 hp..

You have to wait and see, technically the SS is a total new car.

I heard that too, that you can't order the SS package on a normal Veyron!
Do you know how much weight will be reduced?

According to the article, the production version will be limited to 450 km/h... Wow, now I feel much safer!

I doubt an extra 100hp will give it an extra 43km/h top speed, unless the car undergoes significant aerodynamic changes.

No way!
Veyron uses 270 hp, to reach 250Km/h, but for extra 150km/h, Veyron needs extra 730 hp!!!
So, the function is exponential, not linear, if you understand me.
To reach 508 km/h, Veyron needs more than 2000++++ hp...so it's impossible to reach that kind of speed with just 1200hp...;)

That's what you will see as I said its technically a new car a heavy modified veyron from chassis, aerodynamics, and ride differently..

Hope you are correct, all these special color scheme editions are getting lame. However, I find it difficult to believe that VW will want to put more money into this.
