For the British leg of Ferrari’s 60th Anniversary relay, the local boys in blue will be behind the wheel of a special one-off 612 Scaglietti HGTS dressed in UK police livery. The relay starts today with the fleet of international drivers kicking off in Belfast and traveling the 1,500 miles to London with five of the UK’s finest there to promote the government’s ‘Think!’ road safety campaign.

The car provided to the UK police is decked out in Blu Tour de France and features a beige interior with Daytona style seats and personalized stitching. The special 612 also picks up the HGTS handling package and has a specially installed emergency lighting bar.

The relay, which began back in January in Abu Dhabi, has already crossed numerous countries including China, Japan, the US, Spain, Portugal and Australia, and by its end will have seen over 10,000 Ferrari owners involved. The Managing Director of Ferrari in Great Britain, Massimo Fedeli, boasted “our 60th anniversary tour is the perfect opportunity to provide this special 612 Scaglietti HGTS for the police service of England, Ireland and Wales to drive. This reinforces Ferrari’s commitment to responsible driving and promoting road safety.”

That makes a change to the Vector and Mondeo police cars, would mind being taken to the police station in one of those!:D

Oh joy...just what we needed.

Loads of coppers who will try to familiarize themselves driving these things at 200 Mph on our motorways. I can't effing wait to see these Ferraris getting wrecked day after day...

What, like the guy who was practicing going fast at 159mph in his vector?:t-crazy2:

It was a Vectra, not a Vector. PC Milton managed to reach a Top Speed, that not even Vauxhall managed to reach it.

And yes. I bet that will be a PC Milton like copper doing 175 Mph on the M54, and get away with it with, pleading he was "just familiarising" himself with Scaggy.

I beg to differ.

You definitely would not want to ride in the backseat of a 612 Scaglietti. Specially a Police one. If I were going to be taken to the station, I would ask for a car with a proper backseat:

the car will be used for people driving too fast. the same way italian police use their Gallardo for.
