Ugly Mercedes-Benz wheel

I saw a pre-facelift black S320 W220 with the same wheels of the silver W220 on the photo below:

They look like those steel wheels from the 1980's Golf and Passat, don't they? Eww... not good!

Still, I need to know the name and the size of it, thank you very much.

Oh and sorry about the large size of the photo; feel free to resize it.

Re: Ugly Mercedes-Benz wheel.

Personally, I actually don't mind those rims at all. They are a bit out of place on an S-class though. I find the ones on the red S-class much worse looking.

Re: Ugly Mercedes-Benz wheel.

^^Are you serious?

They look like the basic steel wheel, whose plastic cover has fallen... Even on my Golf the wheels are way better looking...

These are the most stupid wheels I've ever seen: alloy looking as bad as steel... Audi had the same, on A3, A6 and A8...

In the S-Class, they are 16". Surely 225.

Re: Ugly Mercedes-Benz wheel.

i like those wheels...i wanted wheels like that for the winter
...i like the look...not on an s-class because its big but they look cool on an e or a old c...BMW's are better though

Re: Ugly Mercedes-Benz wheel.

They are disgusting and is something you see on a Nissan Micra from the 80s.

Re: Ugly Mercedes-Benz wheel.

Wouldn't put them on my Golf, even for the winter tyres.
My (steel :icon_redf) wheels look much better that that, because there is a plastic cover to hide them! (No, i have no alloys on my car, and no I am not ashamed by that :D)

Re: Ugly Mercedes-Benz wheel.

Yeah, the silver one gets my vote for the worst MB rim. We don't have them here in the US on the S-Class
but they debuted with the W208 CLK and I HATE THEM! Of course MB dropped them in 6 months or so.

Re: Ugly Mercedes-Benz wheel.

They remind me of these earlier Audi rims (VERY UGLY)

Re: Ugly Mercedes-Benz wheel.

Yes these were the wheels I was speaking of. But the Mercedes are even worse than these.

I don't know why they did it, Audi like Mercedes. They are alloys, why making them look like ugly steel rims??:t-hands:

I have nooo idea. The Audi rims are sooo bad i sore an Audi A6 C5 today with these rims and it looked awful:t-banghea

Oh and those rims on the Mercedes look well to small for the car.

Those rims don't belong on an S-class regardless of trim, model or weather conditions. This is basically a case of "What were they thinking??"

Remember the W220 was developed when MB was under Jürgen Schrempp's control... :eusa_doh:

WOW! You must be the first person I know, who prefers the Toliman wheels (silver S-Class) to the Carmenta wheels (red S-Class). The Carmenta wheels suit the W220 pretty well IMO.

They look OK on the A3 and even the A4, but they look ridiculously small on the A6.
