Camry Toyota Recalling the 2007 Camry for Transmission Problem.

The Toyota Camry is an automobile sold internationally by Toyota since 1982, spanning multiple generations. Originally compact in size (narrow-body), the Camry has grown since the 1990s to fit the mid-size classification (wide-body)—although the two widths co-existed in that decade. Since the release of the wide-bodied versions, Camry has been extolled by Toyota as the firm's second "world car" after the Corolla. As of 2022, the Camry is positioned above the Corolla and below the Avalon or Crown in several markets.

Toyota Recalling Camry

The newest edition of the Toyota Camry is being recalled for a problem with the transmission. The problem, Toyota says, involved only a half-percent of Camrys built thus far for the 2007 model year. The new six-speed automatic transmission could lose second and sixth gear during operation. Toyota told Reuters the vehicle still will operate even if the gears are lost, and that the problem usually happens within the first 500 miles of use.

So...you just bought a brand new 2007 Camry, expecting the typical Toyota trouble free motoring experience, right? Err...it's better you get back to the dealership immediately, otherwise, you will have a doomed transmission with only 500 miles. How bad that would be, huh?

This is not a late April's fools joke.

Is it just me or has Toyota been more and more prone to have recalls lately?

Yep.

Advertising itself as Nr. 1 in reliability is kind a tricky - it hit back MB years ago, and it will Toyota / Lexus too in the future. Nobody is perfect.

yeah...but damn this is only half a percent. that's .05% that is not really an issue. Still not as bad as the roof flying off a brand new corvette while doing 60mph cruising...now that is dangerous but GM still isn't issuing recalls.
