~Top Gear Season 18~(Trailer, Discussion, and info)

Indeed very good. Except maybe for the news and SIARPC - which I no longer watch, but which are still irritating because they take up the precious space, and especially irritating today because the Italian trip could have definitely used some more running time. They should release a full hour version on DVD. The best parts? Hammond trying to save the off and the flames from the Lambo. (the biggest continuous flames of any stock car? :) - apart from the 458 Italia, obviously :D )

But they could have tried a bit harder at Nardo, to be honest, and also, although the Aventador might possibly be the easiest one to drive fast, and Clarkson might possibly be the fastest driver of the three, he also does know the track a lot better than the other two, as he made one of his DVDs at Imola and probably spent like a week there.

Check the pagani video thread

Well, yeah, there are lots of nice videos there, but I haven't seen flames mentioned once and I don't really have time to watch them all. I have watched some and so far I have only seen flames coming out when downshifting, which is quite common. In fact, the only other car that I remember continuously producing flames like that is the F430. In Miami Vice. Heh.

And I have seen some other videos of the F430 shooting flames as well, so that was most likely stock.

Yes. Very good. Other than the star in the reasonably priced car and a bit of news, it was all the supercars across Italy. That Lambo looked stunning in the metallic red.

The Lamborghini was something special wasn't it. My mouth was watering every time it was in frame. It is the type of car you see that makes you think: I want to get inside you right now.

^I only feel that way when I see a beautiful woman. ;)

I hope this statement doesn't throw a spanner in the works but for me it's the only one that oozes true supercar appeal, the MP4 looks tame by comparison and the Noble.... well it looks like someone built it in a shed which isn't that far from the truth.

The Noble, what Noble? It's such an anonymous looking car that I can't find it in me to endorse it in anyway. There are plenty other niche manufacturer who develop cars with a more meaningful appearance like Spyker. As for the Mclaren, it's an attractive car but the Italian do the whole visual and emotional appeal so much better.

The howl of the Lambo in the tunnel, the Lambo spitting flames out its arse, The glowing carbon brakes on the Aventador at Imola, just EPIC! I cringed when they scraped the aventador and the MP4 around the streets of Rome. Great first episode.

The one thing hit my ears badly was: "No car can reach it's real topspeed here (Nardo)" by Clarkson. This is not true, MOST of the cars can, see high speed tests by numerous magazines.

When reading any written output or watching Top Gear, you have to detach yourself from reality, because Jeremy Clarkson talks out of his arse.

I remember reading his review of the E46 M3 with SMG II gearbox. He didn't like it because, and I quote, he "doesn't like paddles that are attached to the steering column and do not move with the steering wheel".

I wonder whether he even got behind the wheel.

Nice to see Ferrari's overly complicated AWD system got shown the door by Bentley's quattro system on the ice. :eusa_clap

Ferrari should stick with what they do best and leave the winter sports to the experts.

I've just finished catching up with missed Top Gear episodes after being away from home for several weeks. I'd only seen the (fantastic) episode 1 with the Italian trip in the three supercars. Just as I expected, they made the first one very good to lure people in but now they've reverted back to the usual, crass, childish nonsense they always do. 45 minutes into episode 4 we've had 15 mins of the quite interesting Ferrari FF and Bentley Continental GT (would have preferred a test on normal roads) and not much else. Michael Fassbender. No problem with him but this is a car show not a film programme. Why the need to turn it into a chat show for 15 mins? And now I'm sat here, deeply embarassed by the mobility scooter section. I'm not even bothering to watch it to the end and I'm going to to turn it off.
.
Anybody who thinks watching three middle aged men arseing about around a town centre on mobility scooters is funny, needs to have a serious, hard look at themselves.

It frankly embarassing and the BBC should just end Top Gear with this series. They've clearly run out of ideas.
