BRABUS Top Gear: Brabus S V12 S [SL 65]

Founded in 1977, Brabus is a leading German luxury tuner, creating record-breaking supercars and authentic classic restorations. Official website: BRABUS
Not the fastest supercar to go around the TG track, but certainly one of the meanest machines The Stig (and Clarkson) probably ever came across.

I just wish Brabus put more effort into it, to make it a proper rival to the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640 Roadster.

Hey Brabus! How about next time, take a lesson of the Bugatti engineers and make your road-rocket Benzes with 4WD?

Anyway, if someone wants to give me a Brabus SL V12, I would be delighted. :D

I'm a bit confused right now..
Is the base car of this the SL55 oer the SL65?
He said 65 and talked about a performance of 517hp and a displacement of 5,5l.. both are wrong numbers if the base car is the 65 as I assume because of the V12..

im confused here to , i think its based on the V12 BiTurbo, but why was he saying the numbers of the 55 AMG?

He keeps saying the figures of the SL 55 AMG, because he is Jeremy Clarkson.

Jeremy Clarkson is the man who drove the new VW Golf GT 1.4 TSI from London to Cornwall with the Golf's gearbox Winter Mode activated, and he had the bloody cheek to complain the power delivery was jerky and the acceleration was poor.

Clarkson is normally a funny and witty journalist. But after his review on the Golf GT, I lost my respect for his opinion on cars.

he did the same thing with the M5. Blabbering on about satnav woman, when everyboy knows she only talks when you install a destination in the navigation. And the stunt with the volume button on the steeringwheel, where he pushed the wrong button.

Don't get me wrong, top gear is an amazing program if you're looking for funny movies, great cars, awsome pictures and scenery and boys being boys. Don't watch it if you want decent car testing. They can talk rubbish.

It reminds me of a similar review where he had a tug if war and spinning the wheels was all he could do. I agree get some 4wd technology and these cars would be world-beaters or at least be able to keep up!!!
:t-cheers:

yep he is mixing up the 55 and 65 nr´s allright..
he is really goofy:D

seriousely it doesn't take a PhD in astrophysics to shut clarckson up (although i quite enjoy reading and watching him favorite car show).
all you need is to check the brabus site to confirm that the SV12 S roadster is based around the SL600 and has 730 hp from its enlarged 6.3 V12 up from the standard 517 of the 5.5 liter V12
incidently clarckson was right, but you are all AMG crackheads so you couldn't imagine brabus modifying a non AMG car :D:D:D:D:D i.e the 600 instead of the 55 and idioticly crazy 65

no puns intended
have fun people

The point is, he showed an SL65 in the studio and talked about tunnig it.. this got me confused.. beside the fact that the SL55 also has 517hp!

So the SL tested by Top Gear is based on a SL 600!! The badge say: "S V12 S"!!

I'll say it without any restraint: this car is ridiculous, just simply ridiculous.

It's a waste of the world's energy... I feel more wasteful owning this Brabus than a Bugatti Veyron. :t-hands:

Not sure about you, but I would feel more wasteful owning a Porsche Cayenne Turbo than this Brabus.

That's a wasteful car too, but in the Brabus SL you can't really use all of that power (plus the limited torque is just irritating) while in a Cayenne Turbo all of that power is put to good use shifting all of that weight.

Dear Mirage77.

Actually, I think you are wrong. And Just_me for that matter as well.

This is just my opinion, OK?;)

But I would definitely feel wasteful owning a Chevrolet Matiz instead of a Brabus S V12 Roadster or a Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

At least that Brabus and the Cayenne Turbo have redeeming features.

The Matiz in other hand has no redeeming features whatsoever. It's a just a plain, utterly, utterly biblically awful car.

And I'm sorry for those who own a Matiz, but bad car like the Matiz and those Chinese motoring atrocities are a huge waste of the world's energy.

I don't know... The redeeming features of the Matiz and other Chinese cars is that they get you from point A to B, and they sip fuel like no other. I don't see them as a waste at all... Well this is where we disagree. :t-cheers:

Chinese cars are a waste of the world's resources, because they are made with no passion, care or thought whatsoever towards the poor sod who end up buying one.

Not to mention, some of them are cheap illegal knock-offs of other well-known cars.

People are suckered into buying a Chinese car because of the price. Sadly, however, what these people might end up getting is a motoring equivalent of a guillotine. Which most definitely will chop their or their children heads in accident.

So please, do you care to elaborate how the Chinese cars are not a waste of the world's resource?

As for that Brabus...

At least the BRABUS SV12 S Biturbo it will do 220 Mph, it's got huge gobs of power and torque, it sounds great, it looks sublime, it's based on the SL so you just know it will protect you in an accident and above off all else, it comes from one of the world's finest brands.

And actually if you have the BALLS, you just need to balls and some brains to know how to tame those 730 Stallions. It's a car that you should learn how to drive it - utter raw power.

Then you finally learn how to do it, you will love it.

I'm sorry to say Kowalski but you come from a rich country. The poor suckers who are forced to buy these chinese cars are exactly that...poor. People around the world coudn't give a flying F_ck about cars made with passion or not. To most people in the world cars are just that, cars. They are nothing more than personal transportation that can fit their families. You might be rich, i don't know, and you come from a rich country where you don't have to worry about food, clothing, sheltor and other such things so you spend your time looking at cars...but the folks who buy these cheap cars is because they don't have the money to afford something better. If you want to find something offensive in my post go ahead but you are seriously coming across as a very ignorant person who has no regards for anyone else but himself and his own beleifs.
