1. BMW 3 Series

The BMW 3 Series has had a target on its back for well over a decade. Still, despite the fact that every luxury carmaker has set its sights on taking it down, it's managed to retain its crown as the best entry-level luxury sedan money can buy. The credit goes to its smooth and powerful six-cylinder engines, agile handling and excellent refinement — and let's not forget about its exceptional build quality and wonderful, driver-focused interior. Without a doubt, this capable Bimmer deserves kudos for being the benchmark by which others in this segment are judged.

2-Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

The ultimate in executive segment.

What genuinely makes the Prius so noteworthy, given that it is used as an object to proclaim a low carbon footprint, yet in its production - i.e. its entire carbon footprint - it produces more carbon dioxide then most other cars.

On the other hand, the BMW 3 Series through efficient dynamics and low end diesel engines is driving current trends in fuel and emissions efficient engines throughout the industry.

What makes the Prius so noteworthy? Maybe that it defined the next decades' cars? That it started everything that will be important in the future? That it forced the competition to react?

Granted, the 3er is an awesome car, but will hardky mark the decade at all. Didn't define anything besides being the benchmark of its class.

The Prius defined the whole 2000's decade, and the next one too. First car to really bring down the electric vehicle to the people at a sustainable price without any concession to make.

Hybrid technology! It is completely making the auto industry rethink how it's operations.

The 3 series is a "want" car. No one NEEDS a 3 series. Swing around corners doesn't change the industry.

What has the 3 series even done of being Noteworthy?

Has it produced extraordinary safety features? Is it the first in any major industry changing technology? Any industry firsts? Nada...But it can turn corners! Really?

And no...I'm not hating on the 3 series, I just don't see it doing anything to effect the industry in a major way at all.

I don't know if the 3-series is the most noteworthy of the decade, but it sure had the whole industry follow suit.

I thought this was funny:
Ford F-150:
Launching with one of the most modern and appealing interiors in any vehicle...
Really?

Wow, that is some statement. But on the other hand, looking at the interiors of 90's US pickups never msde anyone happy, so this might actually represent a noteworthy development...

True, but it still seems like an exercise in cramming in as many different types of plastic as possible. I understand that the list is very much from an American point of view (kind of hard to miss) but still... Actually I find it surprising that the Sprinter someone mentioned is missing from the list, I understand that it's caused some rethinking in the U.S. as to what a commercial vehicle can be like.
As a sidenote, that door trim reminds me of the 1985 Nissan we had when I was a kid. :D

This article has nothing to do with noteworthy, so why mention it. The 3er has contributed nothing of note worthiness. It's been awarded for being a benchmark consistently through out the decade.

As for the prius being the leader in hybrid tech is debatable but I wont argue too much with that statement. How ever they never started the green revolution. That honour goes to GM for their EV1.
