How could I forget our royals - The King and The Queen and their family

She is a hottie, god only knows how that ugly American got his hooks into her.

Norway is better than Sweden!

And I should know my great great great somethings were Norwegian royalty

I live in Norway and I would say no, the only advantage of living in Norway is higher salaries, the downsides are more expensive beer, wine, spirits, cars, taxes, houses, limited choice of highly expensive food, and the women aren't as hot as the Swedish ones (they are still hot, just not as hot). BTW the current Norwegian royal family are a pack of idiots (the King is a decent man, his children are not) and are transplanted Danes.

This is uncannily accurate!

Last I saw a TV documentation about "Gekas", a Swedish store. As per different websites Gekas is the largest store worldwide.
They sell 100.000 products on a sales floor of 35.000 square meter.
They have 7.000 supermarket trolleys, 5.000 supermarket baskets and 62 checkstands.

Some records for 2011:

4,6 millions customers
Sales record on October 15th with 29,8 mio SEK / 3,25 mio EUR / 4,29 mio USD
Customers record on July 25th with 29500 customers

Meanwhile it exists "Gekas village" with Hotel, Motel, Campground and a wellness area.

I've been there many years ago and I also been there this summer but it was crowded and no parking places available so I left. We even have a TV show about the workers and the company.

BTW the owners of Gekås Ullared are rich, filthy rich!

We have a few members from Sweden. Things you didn't know about us/our country.

- The population of the entire country is only about 9 million over a 450,000 km2 land area (London has 7 million people over only 1500 km2. New York more people than total population of Sweden.)

I think we are around 21m in Mexico City :/

- The countryside is empty and stunningly beautiful

I bet it's awesome to drive there

- Volvo, Saab

Thanks, Swedes :)

- A few celeberties from Sweden: Victoria Silverstedt, Malin Åkerstrom, Stellan Skarsgard, Björn Borg, Anita Ekberg, Greta Garbo, Dolph Lundgren, Peter "Foppa" Forsberg, Peter Stormare, Marcus Schenkenberg, Max Martin, Elin Nordegren (Wife to the golfplayer Tiger Woods)
Gregor!

- The cars must stop for you when you cross the street as a pedestrian.

- Everyone drives with their headlights on all the time

- You drive on the right, and all passengers are required to wear seatbelts

Those sound like my rules haha, especially since I always have black cars

- Schools in Sweden are free of charge, from primary school to university level.

Well, we have that here too, but it kinda sucks. It gets better as you move forward. Public elementary sucks, public high scholl doesnt suck so much, and university is good. Mexican universities have a lot of fanboys, but I think we are far from having a good education system. I would be heavily flamed if someone from Mexico read this haha. Everyone is super proud of a university which will do whatever posible to avoid letting you in :rolleyes.doodle:, and when you are in, it's not that good, but it is good. Sorry for the rant :D

- There is no toll fee on the highway.

AWESOME. In Mexico we have pay roads and free roads. Sometimes, the free roads are better and offer a lot of twisties and beatiful scenery. I'll get on the road when my Volvo's suspensión is fixed, to enjoy those twisties (y)

- Nature is available for everyone in Sweden. This right is called the “right of public access”. But it comes with a responsibility as well; Don't disturb - don't distroy.
I hate this from where I live. We have lots of nature, yet we focus on destroying it. Good to hear you respect what you have.

That's a picture from one of those pretty free roads I mentioned. This was not so pretty, that sign says please don't litter...
- Sweden is considered the third largest exporter of music in the world
Opeth :ylsuper:

- Sweden is the second largest consumer of coffee in the world, following Finland.apa
I'll take some from Veracruz when I visit Sweden to use as currency :D

- The home of incredibly hot girls, mostly blondes.
Hey tell them about me, don't keep them all for yourself!

- Taxes are sky high

- Fuel prices are very high
That's why Tesla suceeded there, right? I bet it sucks to own a V8

- Mobile phone Sony Ericsson comes from Sweden

Best pones I had in my life were Nokias and Sony Ericsson. My iPhones start to degrade over time. They work fine the first year and then, it starts working slow :(

So i watched 20 minutes of a shitty tv film (You know the kind of stuff some tv station put just before closing, when there's nothing left to show) and the during those whole 20 minutes i was doing country origin guessing of the film. The film was screaming german but the landcape they were showing was matching more austria. I also thought there was a slight possibility of sweden and it turns out that indeed the film was shot in sweden.

My question is how come sweden is so green ? Isn't it nearly located in the arctic circle ?

I think because gas is so expensive there, they prefer green cars like the Tesla :D

I spent a week in Sweden this summer, the only Tesla's I saw were Norwegian registered vehicles. I also though the diesel prices were pretty decent, quite a bit cheaper than Norway.

Actually everything is cheaper in Sweden, especially food, Swedish supermarket from a Norwegian perspective as fantastic, so much choice, better quality, cheaper prices, I should have married one of my Swedish girlfriends, but I went with the Norwegian. ;)

My joke failed I see :D

Why should you have married a Swedish girl?

Andreas, I will make my own thread as a response to this. I think everyone should make a "things you didn't know about X country".

I enjoyed reading this

Everything is cheaper in Sweden, and since I'm a bit of a foodie there's a far greater variety of better quality food and significantly better and more varied resturants in Sweden than in Norway, cars are also half the price.

Regarding Tesla. I live close to one of the few Tesla "supercharger stations" we have here. So I see a few of them pretty often. Personally not a car I would buy even if I could.

Even if cars are half the price in Sweden, cars are still expensive. Average Joe doenst make the same money as the average joe in norway so it all evens out. The best car prices are in US, I would love to have the same prices in Sweden ;)

The US has a limited selection in relation to Europe, look at how limited the US BMW, Mercedes & Audi model lines are compared to Europe, most cars are also prebuilt sitting on lots, we do pay more but we get more choice, usually build exactly what we want. I'd be happy with Swedish prices on everything and my Norwegian income. My company had a factory in Halden, most of the staff were Swedes living in Sweden but being paid Norwegian salaries. The best of both worlds.

Visiting my parents in Strömstad, I lost count of the Teslas I saw. They we everywhere.

That's a very popular place for Norwegians to own holiday houses and apartments, close to Oslo, cheaper than buying in Norway, and a nice location. I guess a lot of those Tesla's were Norwegian registered?

All of them*. We made sort of a bet. "If you don't spot 10 Teslas in 10 minutes, you'll pay the evening..." You never lost on a bet like that.

*) They are the same price as a Volvo V70 in Norway.

I was going to say why not work in Norway and live in Sweden, I see it's actually done haha

I guess it's weird seeing so much Teslas. Maybe they are the new Volvo

a lot of swedish hospital staff, like nurses are working temporarily in Norway because its better paid.

Have you been to Oslo anytime in the past 10 year, every shop assistant, waiter, hotel receptionist, any kind of service job is almost always done by a young Swede.

On Saturday night I was talking to a Swedish guy working security in the hotel I was staying at, Radisson Blu Gardermoen, for a graduate it's much easier to find a job in Norway than Sweden, in Sweden you have to compete against immigrants who are prepared to work longer hours for less pay (is this true), so you move to Norway. I gotta say Swedes are much better at service positions than Norwegians, Norwegians don't do service, they don't understand it.
