VOLKSWAGEN HELPS DRIVE HUNGER OUT OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

- New Hampshire Food Bank will receive $2 for every Volkswagen test drive
AUBURN HILLS, Mich.—Volkswagen of America, Inc. announced today that all New Hampshire Volkswagen dealers will donate $2 to the New Hampshire Food Bank for every test drive of a new car between July 2007 and November 30, 2007.

“These donations are a wonderful step forward in the fight against hunger, we encourage everyone to get involved” said Matthew Phillips, Volkswagen eastern region sales operation manager. “Visit your nearest Volkswagen dealership and test drive one of our new vehicles today and we’ll help you do your part in the fight against hunger.”

New Hampshire Food Bank’s current approach to ending hunger includes developing programs to help educate their member agencies, rolling out a Mobile Food Pantry, and expanding their Operation Frontline program. Each year the food bank distributes over 4 million pounds of donated, surplus food to nearly 350 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, day care centers, senior citizen homes and substance abuse treatment centers. These member agencies then provide the food to over 95,000 hungry people throughout New Hampshire.

“Every night roughly 95,000 people go to bed hungry in the state of New Hampshire, this is equivalent to the entire city of Nashua going without proper food or nutrition,” said Melanie Gosselin, executive director at the New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of New Hampshire Catholic Charities. “We’re proud to partner with Volkswagen to help fight against hunger in New Hampshire.”

Participating dealers include Beranger Volkswagen in Rochester, Lakes Region in Gilford, Noyes Volkswagen in Keene, Manchester Volkswagen in Manchester, Miller Volkswagen in Lebanon, Seacoast Volkswagen in Greenland and Tulley Volkswagen in Nashua. VOLKSWAGEN POSTS JUNE SALES INCREASE OF FIFTEEN PERCENT

- Best Overall Month since August 2006

- Best GTI and Rabbit Months since Relaunch

- Best Passat Sedan Month since November 2006

- Jetta Sedan up 14.0 percent over June 2006

Auburn Hills, Mich. - Volkswagen of America, Inc. today announced June 2007 sales of 23,127 units, representing an increase of 15.0 percent over the June 2006 total of 20,121. This performance reflects the best overall sales month for the Volkswagen brand since August 2006.

This increase can be attributed to strong market acceptance of the entry level Rabbit model, and a 44.9% surge in deliveries of the sporty GTI. The retractable hardtop convertible Eos posted its second best month ever, as summer is now in full swing.

Volkswagen sales performance for June of 2007 underscores the brand’s “return to its roots” affordability showing significant increases in Jetta and Rabbit volume car lines, combined with gathering momentum in spirited niche models like GTI.

Volkswagen issued with certificate for innovative, environmentally sound strategy from Federal Motor Transport Authority

Volkswagen Eos already complies with EU recycling requirements

Wolfsburg, 18 June 2007 - The Member of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Brand with responsibility for Development, Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, was today presented with two certificates by Ekhard Zinke, President of the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). These are the first such certificates to be issued by KBA and confirm that the Volkswagen Group is the first automaker worldwide to produce series vehicles which are recyclable to a minimum of 85 percent and reusable to a minimum of 95 percent by mass.

”The certificates again confirm the pioneering role of Volkswagen in the environmentally compatible recycling of vehicles,” Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Member of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Brand with responsibility for Development, commented.

According to Hackenberg, innovative recycling has a long tradition at Volkswagen: “Last year, Volkswagen won the “European Business Award for the Environment” and the environmental award presented by the Federation of German Industries for its pioneering end-of-life recycling technology.” Volkswagen joined up with SiCon GmbH back in 1999 to develop a recycling process for end-of-life vehicles which is particularly effective in protecting the environment and preserving resources.

“We can confirm that Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft integrates all the required methods, systems and processes as early as the vehicle development stage and complies with all the administrative and technical requirements set out in EU Directive 2005/64/EC concerning recycling-compatible design, production and end-of-life disposal,” KBA President Ekhard Zinke said as he presented the certificates.

The “Reusability, Recoverability and Recyclability” certificate issued by the Federal Motor Transport Authority on behalf of the EU confirms that Volkswagen already complies with the administrative and technical requirements of the new EU Directive 2005/64/EC before it comes into effect. From December 2008, when the new Directive is enforced, all vehicle manufacturers will be obliged to provide evidence of recyclability when applying for type-approval of new vehicles. The Directive specifies that new vehicles must be reusable and/or recyclable to a minimum of 85 percent and reusable and/or recoverable to a minimum of 95 percent by mass.

The new recycling requirements will become part of the type-approval procedure and oblige all vehicle manufacturers to submit a satisfactory strategy for ensuring the reusability of components and for the recyclability and recoverability of materials. Furthermore, the arrangements and procedures put in place by the vehicle manufacturer to manage all information received from suppliers will also be assessed.

Pioneering recycling strategy – The Volkswagen-SiCon process
The much-acclaimed Volkswagen-SiCon process recovers materials from end-of-life vehicles for use as a valuable source of raw materials. Following treatment, hard plastics, rubber, textiles, glass and metal residues replace primary raw materials and thus contribute to protecting natural resources. Apart from the ecological aspect, this process presents an economically attractive alternative for secondary raw material users as raw material prices continue to rise.
