· World premiere for the carbon-fibre sports-car prototype at the Tokyo Motor Show
· TDI engine develops 100 kW und more than 250 Nm from 1.5 litres cubic capacity
At the Tokyo Motor Show Volkswagen are presenting a prototype that could well make history as the most economical sports car of its time. The two basic figures: 3.4 litres per 100 km average consumption, and 230 kph top speed. The name of the sports car: EcoRacer. Eco, because fuel consumption and emission are extremely low; Racer, because the dynamic potential of this centre-engined sports car is thoroughbred and fascinating.

I love it. VW should produce a 22k roadster with this desing i.e. MX5 killer.
It is great to see some inovative design from VW.

That's a really inovative car but the chances of mass production should be zero. The carbon fibre chassis would make it too expensive.

The rear reminds me of the Audi RS9 that is going into production and this EcoRacer concept seem to be based on the Audi shootingbreak, or vise versa.

What? That doesn't make any sense! What Audi R9 and new Audi TT have to do with a carbon fibre roadster?

I dunno but i've seen similar concept/production car from a British manufacturer i can't remember its name ..

If this car goes into production, it's gonna be hot.

Zippy car, an eco-friendly engine and I should expect reasonable pricing too, without the carbon fibre stuff as Yannis mentioned.

What surprises me is the design language which doesn't remind me of VW at all.

Looks like the Pontiac Solstice... I think its hot, personally i dont see the purpose of the t-tops opening up that way. :t-hands:
