The Sultan of Brunei's Private Airplane

Yeah Roberto, I've been to the Versailles - it's very, very opulent and recently it was refurbished if I'm not wrong. I was there last year and they were doing some restoration.

To dispell some myths.

Brunei isn't exactly a "poverty-stricken" country. It has standards of living close to Malaysia or the Philippines, not definitely not "down there". The King just keeps his wealth within his own kinship and does not share it with the rest of Brunei.

Isn't he one of the richest guys in the world, only after Bill Gates? If you guys think that his plane is bad taste, you probably wouldn't be too happy about his house then, hahaha... or should I say palace.

It's his brother, Prince Jefri, that is the real conspicuous consumer. He once owned a yacht named "Tits" and it's small tender craft were named "Nipple 1" and "Nipple 2" - I guess that says all that really needs to be said of Prince Jefri - he enjoys his great wealth anyway. :D

:t-rot: :eusa_clap
Bravo Prince Jefri... you deserve an article in Maxim. Hahaha, I wonder how he was raised.

HAHAH.. man some ppl are just to much.. arent those guys over there muslims??

Islam is the official religion of Brunei Darussalam as stated in the Brunei Constitution, with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan as the head of the Islamic faith in the country

I think the problem in Brunei is not how the citizens are treated - if I recall correctly the sultan even buys each citizen a car for their 18th birthday or something - but the treatment of immigrant laborers who do pretty much all the dirty and dangerous jobs in the country.

whoa man a car for 18th birthday..i need to hook up with them fools :D hahah

Well there are richer people like Warren Buffert but Sultan isn't exactly broke with his fortune of approx. 17 billion dollar.

It seems like lots of personal business jets like these always look tacky though. I can't remember seeing pictures of any that were'nt over done and ugly. Some are less 'opulent' than others but many look like this Brunei fellows.

I was looking for some examples of the Sultan of Brunei's amazing car collection and came across his private jet. LOL - Diddy and Nelly have got nothing on this guy - this is "BLING" for the big boys!

The Sultan of Brunei's private airplane (or aeroplane ;) )

That's the old interior. I went in a few months back and it was beautiful. Cream leather, super thick carpets, marble toilets etc.

You went IN??? How? Why? Explain :D :D

Anyways, it's not my taste, but I wouldn't call it a waste of money. If you have so much money, nothing is a waste anymore. That guy simply lives on another level. One we cannot understand.

Guys like good old Billy Gates would be broke in a couple of years if they spent so much, lol :t-rot:

The most distastefully appointed Airbus A340-200 in the world. Shameful, vagrant excess of one megalomaniac in an otherwise poverty stricken part of the world.

Talking out of your arse.

It's an Airbus A340-8000 and Brunei is far from poverty stricken. Do you actually know anything that you are talking about or are you just flapping your gums?

Do you even know where Brunei is, its' history, anything about its' social structure, people, society?

I would say that the average Bruneian is a lot better off than 80% in the USA, despite not having the same 'luxuries'.

A better standard of (free) education, including free university scholarships covering tuition, accomodation, travel, even pocket money - at universities in London, Paris, Sydney, Auckland, Boston, NY, LA...

Great free medical and dental - for life.
Subsidised/Free modern housing, not some high-rise either - 5-7 bed, 1/2 acre properties. Want to see pictures of mine?

Cheap electricity, fuel, food.

Generally the Sultan looks after his people very well. They love him for it. There is almost no crime, no poverty, 100% literacy rate.

And it is a very safe and friendly, if a little boring, place to live. Tropical beaches, exotic jungle, modern facilities and cheap transport both within and internationally.

Maybe learn a little about a place before you start shooting your mouth off.

I think the problem in Brunei is not how the citizens are treated - if I recall correctly the sultan even buys each citizen a car for their 18th birthday or something - but the treatment of immigrant laborers who do pretty much all the dirty and dangerous jobs in the country.

More bullshit. He bought his own daughter a car for her 18th - he bought her a plane as well.

Immigrant labour is treated very well - I should know, I am one.

The 'guest worker' program gives work to foreigners (usually Filipino, Indonesian, Bangladeshi) in exchange for a two-year visa. I'll bet if you asked them they wouldn't be complaining - they are working and earning money. The working conditions may not be what you are used to, but compared to life in a Bangla slum, it is well paid, safe and life is good.

There is no 'treatment' of foreign workers - you apply for a job and it has certain conditions - you can take that job or not. How those guest workers choose to live depends on many factors. A lot of them choose to live 15-20 to a house to save the maximum amount of money.

The average income in Bangladesh is US$1,500 per annum - the average wage for a guest worker in Brunei is $850/month. A meal is $1, a house shared between 4 or 5 people is about $150/month, utilities and everything else would work out to about $20 per month for 4 or 5...

Yeah, we got it tough...

Zoot, you just registered here and you start replying to our oldest members with such manners?

Do you think this will be tolerated? Do you think we support such behaviour?

I suggest you either edit your posts or you'll have to say goodbye to GCF quite soon!

Keep in mind, that this is a public forum where every opinion is welcome. You only have to be polite when you express it. If you think that another member's opinion is wrong, then simply give us some arguments. You don't have to attack people with whom you disagree.

Am I clear?

Defending ignorance?

Way to go.

You carry on patting yourself on the back that your 'oldest members' deserve some respect for their ignorant, bigoted posts.

I tell you what, you tell me how you would react if someone posted such drivel about your countries' leader?

Meh - I could care less what you think. Your defense of such shite shows me where your priorities lie, and it isn't with veracity.

I don't see you defending me from such 'manners' as has been exhibited by the bigotry portrayed on here.

Goodbye GCF! I wouldn't waste my bandwidth any further.

I restored Zoot's last post, so that it can serve as a reminder.

GCF is a public forum, where each opinion is welcome and respected, as long as it is expressed politely. When one member disagrees with another, we are always excited to read both sides' arguments, but personal attacks cannot be tolerated.

Thank you!

:t-cheers:
