Even though the roofline is not as fluid as I'd would like it to be... I just realised that the more I look at the profile pics, the less I see any problems. The overall great looks of the car make it so that he roofline seems unimportant.

Especially when I look at that blue one!

I agree with you here. Every time I look at the darn thing it gets better and better and better and better.

You can see in this image (I have marked the line that runs from the bottom of the side windows) that even the E46 cabrio had a flatter and lower trunk lid -- the new hard top and straighter lines emphasize this.

lOl, this is quit interesting now that we see the two back-to back.
The Volvo rooflide does infact look more like a single piece, more so than the BMW design but aside from that I`m looking at the total design of these cars and the Volvo looks too much like a Ford imo. The Beemer is still all BMW at heart, it`s design is more business and sport like. The Beemer got my vote here.

No doubt, it's going to look great in other colors.

Now that I've had some time to adjust, I really like the E93's roof. They've made the car look nearly like a normal coupe with the roof up. Get me if I'm wrong, but this may be the first retractable hardtop to come with window-trim.

The shape appears very new to me, and has that particular "hey this is special guys" flair that'll magically compel hordes of us to open up our wallets.

If we contrast this with the outgoing convertible there's no comparison. This car is going to be a hoot.

Also if the car was a dark color, it would hide the lines of the roof a lot better too I think.
I'm imagining this car would look great in Monaco Blue

No comparo, the proportions of the C70 are overwhelming and quite porky. The E93 is typical BMW all around; balanced and extremely well proportioned.

The shape of the roof is actually identical. the big difference is happening with the shape of the body -- the BMW is much straighter and flatter. the reason for this is obviously for maximum effect when the roof is down -- it makes the vehicle look sleeker and longer.

You can see in this picture how the body raises up under the rear windows -- this would then extend to a more typical angled trunk lid -- this is likely what Mercedes would have done.

I think if just me had chosen a more flattering pic of the C70, instead of that poverty spec c70 pictured, the c70 would have got more votes.
