The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT certainly doesn’t hold back when it comes to breaking records. After setting records at both the Nürburgring Nordschleife and California’s Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca, the Taycan Turbo GT, equipped with the Weissach package, has now conquered the 5.4 kilometre Shanghai International Circuit. With Porsche development driver Lars Kern at the helm, it posted a stunning record lap time of 2:11.28 minutes.

Is that a trend we are gonna see now? When an actual production version of their EV is too slow, will companies just be sending a stripped out, winged out, racer versions on slicks instead? Like Lotus already did with the Evija X?

This tell us absolutely nothing about the abilities of the actual car people will be buying, and it's completely pointless in itself.

Well, they did show the Stig there, but historically they haven't done any. So we'll see. There are also still the lap times around Dunsfold that they promised, too.

lol, why am I not surprised Aston let them play with Valkyrie on a circuit that has zero relevant lap time entries on fastestlaps.com?

They are probably saving that content for winter.

They revealed this in the last month's issue of the magazine, right? I must say I don't really get how things are being done now. It's like, we did some laps! Now wait for months, and perhaps completely forget about it altogether, before you can actually see them!

Well, had a look at the magazine. No lap times.
At this point I have to think that no lap times is a prerequisite to getting loaners for tests.

BTW, in 2014 Top Gear printed this in their Speed Week article. Needless to say, they never published those lap times. 🫠

That is a massive disappointment. Hope to read this soon for their comments on each of the cars and their eventual winner.
