Powerful: future-proof electrified drive systems with proven reliability
- More power, with the familiar high level of acoustic and vibrational comfort: The new range of engines gives the GLE Coupé an even more nimble and engaging driving character. Right from the start, the models feel noticeably more agile and deliver stronger acceleration on country roads. At the same time, the powertrains are already engineered to meet future emissions standards, combining the signature quietness with smoothness that define the special Mercedes-Benz experience. The plug-in hybrid model goes a step further, offering a purely electric range of over 100 kilometres – allowing many everyday journeys to be completed silently and emission-free.
- Support in almost every driving situation: For maximum assistance, every GLE Coupé is equipped with an impressive array of sensors: up to 10 exterior cameras, five radar and 12 ultrasonic sensors precisely detect the surroundings. These sensors work in conjunction with a powerful control unit running on MB.OS. This water-cooled high-performance processor provides generous power reserves for future assistance functions. Artificial intelligence processes the sensor data to detect the traffic situation in the surrounding area. In Europe, MB.DRIVE Standard[4] is standard and includes advanced features such as Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC. Depending on the market, the MB.DRIVE ASSIST and the MB.DRIVE ASSIST PLUS packages add further enhanced assistance functions that make driving even more relaxed and confident. MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST detects potential parking spaces with even greater accuracy. If the function is activated, the system automatically carries out the parking manoeuvre at speeds of up to 5 km/h. This makes it around 60 per cent faster than the previous system.
- Modernised design at the front and rear: Two horizontally arranged star emblems in the headlamps characterise the new look. The striking Black Panel connects the new headlamps and the larger radiator grille to form one harmonious unit. The centrepiece is the iconic star that sits within a large chrome frame and is surrounded by a special Mercedes‑Benz pattern. The central star and the chrome frame are illuminated, enhancing its sense of refined elegance.[5] The distinctive front apron has also been given a new look with modified lower air intakes including flicks in high-gloss black and slats in chrome. At the rear, the taillights feature two stylised, three-dimensional star emblems that emphasise the sporty character of the SUV coupé. New 20-inch AMG design wheels with double spokes expand the selection.
- Brighter and more efficient headlamps: The new GLE Coupé features the next generation of DIGITAL LIGHT with micro-LED technology and a powerful chip. Powered by this cutting-edge technology, the high-resolution lighting field is increased by around 40 percent, resulting in a corresponding increase in the brightness of the main beam. At the same time, the light module consumes up to 50 percent less energy than its predecessor. DIGITAL LIGHT with projection function also delivers a new level of driving safety by projecting guiding lines, symbols, and animations onto the road. DIGITAL LIGHT and DIGITAL LIGHT with projection function are available as options. If the former is installed, the latter can also be activated as a Digital Extra[6] after purchase.
- Airy feeling of space: With a transparent area of over one square metre, one of the largest panoramic sliding sunroofs in this class is now standard. The expansive glass roof not only provides a clear view of the sky, it also lets in plenty of light and fresh air – the central glass element can be raised electrically and moved behind the rear, fixed glass segment.
- Analogue and digital luxury in the interior: New trim elements and features enhance the interior. The upper part of the instrument panel is covered with ARTICO man-made leather as standard and features high-quality decorative stitching. The steering wheel adopts the much loved “rocker and roller” control concept delivering intuitive operation and a tactile experience. The central air vents for the front row of seats are now oval instead of square, they are integrated into the ambient lighting, and blend harmoniously into the new interior. ENERGIZING AIR CONTROL now includes a new electric cabin air filter, which keeps even extremely fine particles from getting inside. The incoming outside air is effectively cleaned of harmful and unpleasant components using this multi-stage concept. In the first stage, the outside air passes through a pre-filter that traps larger particles from the airflow. Next, an electric filter ionises fine dust particles, enabling excellent filtration at the interior filter. While the pre-filter only cleans the outside air in the first filtration stage, the interior filter is also active in recirculation mode.
- New interior colours and trim elements: A sumptuous and warm “Beech Brown” colour, combined with black, expands the selection of classic interior colours. The new colour combination is available in Nappa leather. Three new trim elements expand the possibilities for configuring the GLE to suit individual preferences, including dark brown open-pore birch wood and brown open-pore walnut wood trim elements. New aluminium trim elements with light-coloured flowing lines are also standard.
- Supercomputer with artificial intelligence (AI): The Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) transforms the GLE into an intelligent companion that thinks, learns and develops alongside its driver. MB.OS integrates and controls every aspect of the vehicle. This innovative supercomputer uses AI and powerful chips and is connected to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud, which enables over-the-air updates6 of all vehicle software. The GLE Coupé thus remains up to date and attractive for many years and can also be customised after purchase.
- Modern display concept: The instrument panel with a completely new display architecture makes the interior more fascinating and gives it a more modern appearance. The surface of the standard MBUX Superscreen extends from the driver to the front passenger across the entire width of the interior. Three 12.3-inch (31.2-centimetre) displays lie beneath the large glass surface, with the passenger display also standard. Ambient styles enhance the unique effect of the MBUX Superscreen as background motifs. A 3D driver display is optionally available, adding a fascinating spatial representation to the cockpit that can be activated at the touch of a button.
- Attentive assistant: The new MBUX generation integrates artificial intelligence (AI), including from Microsoft. By combining the best technology, customers are supported by an even more intelligent and personal digital companion. Together with an attractive entertainment package, which includes functions such as audio and video streaming, gaming and productivity apps, customers can enjoy a new level of driving pleasure. The MBUX Virtual Assistant2 uses the collective knowledge of the internet and is capable of conducting complex, multi-part dialogues. As a “living” avatar, the MBUX Virtual Assistant is always present on the central display. Currently, three avatars are available, enabling even more personal interaction.
- Reliable guidance: A unique navigation system offers customers the best of both worlds: Google Maps technology and the familiar user interface and services from Mercedes-Benz. Those who opt for MBUX Augmented Reality for Navigation benefit from an easy-to-understand display, which overlays graphic navigation and traffic information onto live images. The MBUX Augmented Reality Head-up Display also offers intuitive visual support. Available for the first time in the GLE Coupé, the system projects important navigation information such as arrows, lane recommendations, and points of interest apparently directly onto the road.
- Design statement: Sporting elongated proportions, large, flush-fitting wheels and a dynamic greenhouse with an elongated side window line, the GLE Coupé exudes high quality and exclusivity. The dynamism of the Coupé line is particularly evident in the rear design. Below the compact greenhouse, a broad muscle arches out from the surface of the vehicle flank, originating in the rear side door just behind the front door handle and enclosing the taillights. This reduced design language, combined with extreme proportions, creates a unique design statement.
- Sporty interior: In addition to the AMG Line exterior, the AMG Line interior and AMG Line sports seat package are now also standard on the GLE Coupé, combining sporty character with everyday practicality. Contoured sports seats with ARTICO/MICROCUT support an enthusiastic driving style.
- Luxurious feel: The rim and airbag cover of the standard multifunction sports steering wheel are covered in Nappa leather, which ensures an exquisite touch and a high-quality look. AMG floor mats and AMG sports pedals underline the sporty character.
- High agility: Compared with the GLE SUV, the wheelbase of the GLE Coupé is 60 millimetres shorter and the steering ratio is more direct. This already benefits lateral agility. Added to this is E‑ACTIVE BODY CONTROL – one of the most intelligent suspensions on the market. It adjusts the spring and damper forces on each wheel individually, ensuring that the body remains stable even on rough roads or when cornering at speed. The control units analyse the driving situation 1,000 times per second and adjust the suspension accordingly. The optional AIRMATIC air suspension and the standard suspension are also firmer and sportier than before.
- Top driving comfort: The GLE Coupé glides effortlessly over long, artificial speed bumps, almost as if it were floating. This is the result of state-of-the-art suspension technology and the unique community of Mercedes-Benz drivers who support each other. With the new cloud-based damper regulation with AIRMATIC, the vehicle automatically adjusts the damping shortly before reaching a speed bump. This makes every journey even more comfortable – especially for passengers in the rear. This technology uses “Car-to-X” information[7] that a Mercedes‑Benz vehicle travelling ahead has sent to the Mercedes‑Benz Cloud in real time via the mobile network.
