How would you grade 2006 as a music year and why?

I just wrote this review of the Commercial/Trance year 2006 for a Trance forum. Read if interested.

I'd give it a B-

Alot of tracks have been made and alot of them rocked but very few gave a lasting impression. It's like the best songs have already been made. This year was like watching a group of dolphins in the sea, waiting for them to make a spectacular jump, but in the end they never did more than reveal themselves above the surface a little. Some more than others.
I'm not a fan of the House turn Commercial Trance has taken in many cases and even real Trance has been influenced by it. Never really understood the appeal of House.

Rob Mayth really disappointed me this year. I was a huge fan of his before but his productions have become monotonous and whenever he comes out with a new track I know exactly what to expect, it will be good, not mindblowing as some of his older stuff.

Manian is pretty much the same imo, not mindblowing but imo better than Mayth.

Out of the giants this was Alex Megane's year. His collaboration with Marc Van Damme has been a huge success and especially in my ears. Can't wait to hear more from them. Alex Megane deserves a medal

I really expected a new album from Interphace or Special D but I had to settle with a crappy Go West remix by Special D and some just a few remixes by Interphace. Interphace is still my favourite so I can forgive him:D

So what will I remember from last year?
Fred Baker's Forever Friends blew my mind and I still listen to it, defintely this year's best track. Megara Vs. Dj Lee continued proving that they are among the best with For a Moment. Everything they did this year was very good, but For a Moment stood out.
But what I will remember most is Basshunter's breakthrough and all the hype. Tracks like Strand Tylösand proved that he does have some talent. If only his album wasn't so rushed I think it would have been better and more to remember but now falls short to what it could have been.

This is what came off the top of my mind at this moment. I haven't given this all that much thought so I look forward to reading your reviews. And I should ad that I'm far from as into this as most of you are so my facts may not be all that straight in some cases.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for Music in general (I'll keep this short). The mainstream radio has just gotten worse, the stuff they play on the radio is just unbearable some times and even here the influence from House is obvious. What is it with House infecting everything?
Here as well, the best stuff has already been made. I usually listen to some mainstream stuff because some of it can be pretty good but I ended the year going back to my classics, Bon Jovi and Nightwish! A good year wouldn't have made me do that.

What do you think?

Hip hop wise..
diddy sucked..
Jay Z pretty much sucked to
Nas album is nice
Game is very good to

my fav is Ghostface album..

Cant wait next year for Detox, and Raekwons Only Built for Cuban Linx 2..
plus fugees..

PS
Rumours say that Wutang might get in the studio again..
we hope we hope:D

Yeah, Diddy didn't impress at all!

His album had 19 songs and only Diddy Rock was worth listening too. His collabs with Christian Aguilera and Nicole Scherzinger where pretty good but not special.

I suppose you understood some of my review eh? Now that you listen to Radioseven and all:D
