The megalomaniac plans of last management VW

Ringraziamo Vanni for a comment in which us it remembers the inheritance left from the last Volkwsagen management, that one that is returning hour to the power with the entrance of Porsche in the shareholders.

Cloni pluri-marks in every category, under marks VW, Audios, Skoda and Seat, models inopportune like the Skoda Superb, useless sister of the VW Passat. Or the VW Phaeton, machine from envies managing the conferences, where manager the VW were forced to arrive in Passat and to see the colleagues Audios to arrive in A8. Such it has been the succeeded one of the Phaeton that it will come withdrawn from the USA market and its assembly line will come used in order to produce the Bentley Continental Flying Spur.

A Bugatti Veyron, from long, the difficult and expensive gestation, symbol of fine technological arrogance to if same, been born when Ferdinand Piech saw concept a Bugatti and said "the next Bugatti will have to be therefore. And it will have to have a motor from 1.000 horses and to go to 400 km/h ". A lot of hat to the group that is successful to put in road this vision, but comes to ask itself: it was worth the pain? In order to construct a change in a position to putting to earth the terrifying power of the W16 motor, the job of 5 years of a team of 50 engineers has been necessary. For the single change. Putting in road the machine, in order to earn last the 30 km/h of the maximum speed, is intentional incidents, fires, lay-offs, in order then to have themselves to invent a machine that changes shape, and that in modality "speed max" does not have deportanza to face calmly curves to high speed enough, and necessity of a some great salato lago American in order to enjoy the 400 km/h. And little it imports that Jeremy Clarkson the tests and defines it "Fantastic. , totally narcotic fantastic, ago to exit of head and to remain with the open mouth ".
And like not speaking about the beautiful and worst coupè Volkswagen W12 Nardò, the coupè to two places, before to mount the present W12 hour on many it blots some of the group. In a version inhaled from 600 cv, this motor had pushed in the 2001 this VW to stracciare the distance record on the 24 hours: beyond 327 km/h of average, covering nearly 8,000 km. Phenomenal data, for 2001: 350 km/h, 3,5 second ones from 0-100 km/h.

Someone never more has seen it? More has been looked at in group VW a coupè with motor in position centers them and 4 drive wheels that the W12 mounted? Not, after to have shown the own one stoffa, the W12 is remained letter dead woman. We remember here with some photos. Group VAG could have made of one Lamborghini, one "more popular" Bugatti and vendibile of the Veyron. If it could some make one coupè Audios, anzichè to have to wait for 5 years in order to make the R8 on Gallardo mechanics.

Curious E' as it is remained while still alive the cult of the Ing. Piech, than after to have created nearly from null the Audios like producer of elegant sport car and, passed to the guide of group VW it is launch in one run to the high in every marks and to the technical perfection which that it was the economic return, leaving Bernd Pietschreder the task to explain to the shareholders like never "without warning" sales and accounts of the group they were in crisis, and the pipeline of development was full of models with serious problems. To the point that Porsche, a producer incomparably more small has been able to acquire of one control quota "nearly".

Well, that's about the same things like in the Piech folly tread.
God, Piech and some of his acolites are mad.

Aspirations of greatness may not always be cost effective.
I remember reading an article on the Veyron where they justified the loss as the car being "our F1" meaning their investment for publicity and media coverage even if it is a loss to sell. They said that the development of the Veyron costs less than a manufacturer spends in one season of F1 (not sure if it's true or not).

Sounds impossible, but it surely costs less than BMW or Mercedes have spend since their return to F1 (Mercedes a little sooner than BMW)

So, from that point of view, it is totally acceptable for VW to have this car.
Smart of them to put it in this light, altough the Veyron will never have as much attention as BMW/MB in Formula 1. Then again, the Veyron costs them much less...

For F1, BMW hasn't been doing well at all lately. As for McLaren, I see their success as more in the chassis than from the Mercedes engine (which seemed to be the weak point of the car this season). They obviously still give major publicity though.
The Bugatti will be known well in the U.S. as well where F1 is not very popular. Funny thing would be if Audi or another arm of VAG did go into F1 later on though.

Audi may join F1 by givig Red Bull an engine for next season according to German newspapers.

As for Piech despite what you think the man is a genious. Sure he made some wrong decisions but he also made a great job with placing Audi among the top brands in the world and creating the Volkswagen empire by acquiring some historical brands of great value such as Lamborghini, Bentley, Bugatti.

If by "you" you mean me (since you quoted me), I meant my comment more as a positive thing than negative. Reading it over again, now, I can see how one could interpret it as a negative comment. I'm really burned out right now, so I can't finish writing this post the way I want to.

I'm sorry, I was having trouble understanding that translation. It does seem however, that Piech was a very arrogant man - I liked the bit where it says the the VW execs were envious at their counterparts at Audi arriving at meetings in A8's (and presumably in Bentleys, Bugattis, and Lamborghinis) when they arrived in Passats, made them determined to create a car (the Phaeton) they felt could more suitably accomodate their egos - totally disregarding the market.

Piech even made claims that weren't even discussed with Bugatti like 1000bhp and the like - he made the Bugatti team work like hell to make sure his statements were factual.
