The list: Engine Weights

Another 148 kg 4 banger - The engine in 2012 S3 - by the way any one know what nomenclature Audi uses for it's engines?

And the engine in previous S3, 153 kg.

I'm not sure about the 150 kg weight of the M838T. I remember 199 kg, and think it was even stated somewhere by McLaren, not sure can't find where. But what I remember is that I was impressed by it being almost as large, with FI technology and weighing a little less than S65 (which is 202 kg). So I think 199 kg is the more correct number. Wiki does not give any exact source for that number.

If not the reason for no official S63 weight might be that it is heavier than S85, what would contradict "downsizing" strategy.

BMW N63: 228 kg

I found it, the soucre of M838T weight. I remember in an interview it was stated when Ron asked Ricardo to build the engine he did not want it to weight more than 200 kg. Ricardo achieved that demand, I would not expect anything less from such a company.

Maybe I have to tell something about my favorite engine? Well, there are no official numbers. The only thing said by Lexus is the the 1LR (4.8 V10) is more compact than the 2UR V8 (5.0 V8) and lighter than the 2GR V6 (3.5 V6). According to wiki that states that the service weight of the 2GR (3.5 V6) is 174 kg. Some sources say the 1LR (4.8 V10) weighs less than 160 kg. In any case the weight is remarkably low, but so must be its price.

1LR-GUE: 150-170 kg

Woah, old thread back from the dead. Awesome thread btw! We need to start updating it with the new engines!

Anyone has a clue on the weight of the V8 in the Speciale?

The 918 engine weight is only 135kg. I don't think Ferrari has published any weight figures for the 458 or Speciale I cannot seem to find anything on this, maybe @Mafalda will know?
