Pets The dog pic thread

Daniela and Blacky look like very happy dogs.

I'd love to post pictures .....but I currently do not have a dog :(

However, I am crazy about dogs .....and animals in general.

Well, Daniela (my dog) is usually very moody, my friend's dog is always cheerful and wants to jump over you. It can be a bit scary haha, it looks like a bear.

Why don't you have one?

Here's a picture my friend took, showing who's boss

Nice looking dogs but why the hell did you get there ears cropped, it's illegal in the EU (including Croatia) and an unnecessary proceedure.

BTW I do like Pit Bulls, some friends of mine have them in New Zealand, they make wonderful family dogs, very loyal and protective, they get a bad rap from the media. I'd like one but they are banned in Norway.

Yup sure are along with

American Staffordshire Terrier
Fila Brasilerio
Toso Inu
Dogo Argentino
Czechoslovakian Wolfdog

You know what's funny? I've heard they were used as fight dogs (which sucks) because they were easy to control if you were in the need to stop them, whereas even a Golden Retriever would be hard to control if gone berserk (due to size).

So the reality is they were associated with bad things even though they are not inherently aggressive. I saw statistics (I never trust them but interesting nonetheless) that said there were more bites from Golden Retrievers than Pitbulls, except demonic Retrievers don't make it to the news as easily, they are not good for a story.

The problem is often the kind of people who own Pit Bulls, generally they are of the less than savory kind, also doing stupid shit like cropping there ears which makes them look aggressive (I can't think of any other reason why a person would do this) doesn't do there rap much good either.

this is an excellent video showing how well controlled a Pit Bull can be.

Sorry to crash the party. We will not turn this thread into "X dogs are bad and should be put down" or "Y dogs are perfect in every sense". I know this is a very sensitive subject BUT we should be tolerant towards our fellow members and their decision when it comes to dogs. If you have any objections, please, put them forward via PM.

I believe this is a thread that should be used to share your love for our four-legged friends. Let us keep it at that.

Any questions on this? Please feel free to drop me or the mod you are most attracted to a line and I'm sure we can resolve almost anything.

Well, cropping ears is superfluous but there might be a reason.

I used to be against tail cropping until I learned some dogs have thin tails and can break them easily if they hit something, and a broken tail happens to be very painful to the dog.

Sorry @Mr Robert, just saw your post. No more derailing :D

I'd love to have a dog, my kids would as well, but right now it's difficult trying to fit one onto our lives, it's not good to leave a puppy at home on their own, dogs are social animals after all. My wife and I both work and I travel a fair bit with my job and our kids are still young. So we have a cat, he's a good cat, but he's not a dog, even though he does like to go for walks with us.

@KiwiRob I will give you 15 minutes to edit that. This is not a forum for how to treat a dog. I care, but I'm not here to give opinions on such matters. Keep it clean or I will keep this topic out of here.

Has anyone seen one of these? A pet fox, I saw a lady walking one in Birmingham last week, I never realised foxes could be domesticated, it appears that they can be.
