The Bucket List - you know you really should...

Mr Robert

Kraftwagen König
Let's face it. You are old. Really old. You only have like hours left. So, you lie there (lying, or not), waiting for the grim reaper to come and, well, reap your petrol infested soul. So, what are you thinking of? Your lovely family? No, they are there and you know them and cherish them, but no, that's not what's occupying your mind. That girl (or guy) that got away? No, not really, the thaught of them now, wrinkly and, well most probably dead, no.

What will be picking your brain, is the thaugt of those special cars. The ones that were too scarse, too dear or simply not right at the time. You know, the priorities were elsewhere - kids, safety, economic soundness...

I know I have a quite a few cars on my list. Here are four, in no particular order.

1. BMW E82 1-series M
2f8514efe974f090d4164336d9573a82.webp

The ugly duckling got an even uglier sibling. It did go with a bang and left us with one of the coolest BMW:s in recent years - maybe most of all because it did not get the badge, but delivered a package so good that the badge-buyers would not have had it anyway.

2. BMW E46 CSL
fceaf78dab5df74b5d9f9c972558df7f.webp

Brilliant concept. Brilliant execution. Taking on the Ferrari 360 CS and the Porsche GT3 RS at their own game and at a bargain. Well worth keeping, for reference. Otherwise, the kids will think you made it up.

3. Triumph TR6
fc52676238cb19fcc78e6bba5b09e6e3.webp

Who could resist this beautiful roadster? Straight six and zero chance of surviving a collision with just about anying. Just wafting around the countryside. Ray-Bans are optional.

4. Porsche Cayman R
114a24afcc5d87efa87e6e59df8d7735.webp

The Cayman dropped like a bomb. It was the proper handling 911. It was cheap. It could be had with an automatic gearbox, but the press hated it and it rightfully killed sales of that option. It is what the 911 should have been from the beginning. The R represents everyting good about Porsche, and at Carrera money. Looking forward to the next iteration.

Now, give me yours! What cars are you trying not to miss?

I do not fear death, but I've caught myself thinking that I will be gutted when my life is ending for the one fact that I will not be able to see the upcoming S class and what it brings to the world.

Ps
Other than that I really want to take @mini_cooper4 and his pretty mouth on that vacation before I kick the bucket.

Me and you in that lovely E39  ...does it have a stick or it's AT? :D

ON:

My bucket list isn't about cars but there are some I'd love to get before I die at the age of 4444

1. My stolen E90 just because I love her.
2. Mclaren F1 just because there's nothing better and will never be.
3. Red AM DBS Volante just to achieve a dream of mine with a girl at 220km/h.
4. TVR Tuscan S mk1 as I'd like to die driving my soul mate (in a TVR my chances to do so are pretty high).

1) Alfa 159:

I don't care if it's unreliable, FWD or a bit cramped inside. Not with that face. I adore it.

2) A mint condition W126 or W140.

A proper, over enginereed Mercedes, with that bank vault feel.

3) Maserati Granturismo

7855191552_4bf324a359_h.webp

The most beautiful car I've ever seen.
Alternatively a 911 classic or BMW E30 M3 will do.

First of all, it's a life long dream to get a nice E39 M5 in my hands. I hope that some time reason will be defeated by emotions and I will make my dream reality. Then, I'd go ahead and buy a first generation 911 2.7 RS, an E30 M3 and an Alfa Veloce.

The only problem is that by having these four cars it would be even more difficult for me to accept death.

One thing we should all keep in mind: Life is a lonely road to death, not to say that you could die in your way ;)

@dr Dunkel
Doc, I will copy+paste your list. I will have to ad two more machines though, the Laferrari and the Hyuara.

This is a must, I could live with a normal E34 swapped with an S50b30 and 6 speed from an euro spec M3

This drove me crazy when I was like 10. I would draw it instead of taking note in class. I would also draw it at the restaurant on paper napkins with crayons haha

It wants to come out of the garage already

Then I'll get the E34/E39 or the Cherokee XJ

Does this include motorcycles? Please tell me no, or face another long post :D

I forgot, I would road trip the hell out of those cars.

And I want to add this

I bet it's the best car to road trip the USA with

This thread got a second chance - I love that. Bring it on!

Ok, I'll play.

My bucket list garage would consist of 5 new vehicles. I would be keeping what I have now, because of the emotional connection that builds up after 10 and 25 years of ownership.

The first car of my bucket list garage would be an E39 BMW M5: I never got over how beautiful and simple the E39 looks. It's the design definition of my perfect car and I plan to invest in one at some point in my life. Now, since this is the bucket list version of the E39 we are talking about, it will be a blue M5, with a beige leather interior. Perfection does exist!

7b2957d324e24241d4060a5bdbc1aa98.webp

Moving on the the second car, it's a red one, the colour of the flaming passion it emits at every glance. An Alfa Romeo GTV 1.75l. Just look at the damn thing!

4135c3d6186fd078b6c7d007eabc9717.webp

At this point you'd be wondering, and rightly so, where is the track weapon? Well, here it is: A 2013 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 - the best thing to ever come from Zuffenhausen.

bb8eb0a0fc530fe7d4df92bafe010c6c._.webp

But the list is still incomplete without the hottest hatch ever, the Renault Clio Williams. It's tricky to handle through corners, it bites back easily, it lift-off oversteers, it's a helluva fun thing!

54c5c7cbd0738fd12b103cd38ba5d9fe.webp

Finally, my bucket list garage needs something with the 3 pointed star. I often wonder what MB would I want sitting in my garage and I usually come up with the 1993 500E. But what I actually dream of is the 300 SL Gullwing. If I had one, it wouldn't be sitting in my garage. I'd have it in my living room!

I'll second that, and that color, but with the black leather and alu' trim! The car that started it all for me with BMW, it would be a special thing to have and to hold.

I might have to make an addition here, and this is a serious regret of mine. I was given the chance to buy three BMW M3 E30's ten years ago, for about €5,5k each, all in original condition (and sub 150,000 kms). I didn't have the money then. That is my worst regret to date.

That Clio Williams is soooo cool. That's what I call a hot hatch
E39 we all agree has to be one of the best cars to ever grace this planet. And it's still within our reach! I would just go with the LS swap because it's so damn cool in my mind.
