We go through a lot of Sam Adams, Boston Lager and mix packs.
Red Hook out of Washington is very good. Their tour is great, $1 and you keep the glass, you taste five beers and one or two refills while walking about fifty feet. Best to go with people who don't drink and just take their glass. So 12-14 5 ounce glasses in an hour.
Every so often we will get some micro brew.
Wont drink Bud, miller... unless that is the only thing available.

Haha nice thread. Last Sunday, I tasted for the first time Miller, and I liked it. Drank it the whole SuperBowl night. Though I always felt Desperados was a girls beer, I quite like it. But drink that only in the disco, not the bar. Guiness is my favorite brown beer, from those I tried.

With friends at home or so I myself like Beck's.

BTW, anybody tasted Beck's Sapphire?

Yo Hoff, get me the name of that Belgian if you can. Btw, if you like IPA try Sierra Nevada. They're local to me and delicious!! I'm also an IPA drinker.

Btw, give me a name of a good German brewery that I could get in US. I had a hef by something that started with Brau something or other. Was not impressed at all.

Also it's weird, just like my pops, drinking something like bud, miller, Coors gives me a headache only after a few bottles. The good stuff I can go all night with.

Just came to me....It's called Aschel Trappist. So tasty. Why is it whenever I am studying, I am fantasizing about beer?

Thursday night I tried this at one of my local taverns..

Stone Ruination IPA.

WHOA!! In a scale of 1 to 5 thumbs I give it:

The guys over at Stone Brewery are absolute artisans when crafting good beers. If you get a chance, definitely take a tour of their brewing facilities. They got a lovely beer garden.

The one beer that I will not drink is Heineken. Been disappointed one too many times.

Really...how come? It just so happens to be my go-to beer at the moment. As a matter of fact, on any given long evening (with company around of course) I can easily go through a crate of 12*300ml. And yes, I like to indulge every now and again

This post is a reminder of how long I've been on GCF. It's like a time capsule in that the number of pints I've had in the last two years, I can count on both hands. I don't know what changed, but I just can't remember when I'd have a craving for a pint.

Onto the business at hand....Heineken. I think one falls into one of two camps: either you like it or you could do with out it. I have not met anybody who enjoys beer that's in the middle. For me, Heineken's skunkiness is a big turn-off. The only nice memory I have of Heinekens is from the movie Blue Velvet, where Dennis Hopper disparages Kyle Maclachlan's choice of a Heineken and extolled the virtues of Pabst Blue Ribbon. Actually Hopper was bit "more to the point," but this is a family-safe forum Frankly, I'd get a PBR over a Heiny any day, but I draw a hard line at Natties. I do have some class.

It's been rather interesting reading other GCF member's posts regarding this topic and one thing is certainly for sure; there are more than just a few well-travelled folk on here who indulge - or used to, such is the age of this thread - in the fine art of beer drinking

Beer is so f#cking expensive here in Bolivia....a 330ml can of the regular, most popular beer cost around 1.5 us dollars, in a country where the minimal wage is around 300 usd/month.

On the other hand, this weekend I'll be by the brazilian border, where they serve you beer that's impossibly, stupidly, imbecil-y cold in good contrast to the high temp and humidity.

I have to confess, I've been struggling with beer a bit of late. A few weeks back I had quite a painful week, followed by a couple of unpleasant days in hospital thanks to a (supposed) abscess on my tonsils. Since getting over that I've really not wanted to drink any traditional English real ale (which is my default 'go to' style of drink), I pretty much just lost the taste for it overnight.

Anyway, after a subsequent trip to Bruges, I've kind of regained the taste for beer - even though for now it's just Belgian style beers. Consequently I've mostly been drinking Duvel, Kwak, Rochefort 8 or Delirium recently. Higher strength, smaller volume, and is more 'throat friendly' than drinking spirits.

I do recommend Bruges as a place to visit if you like to drink Belgian style beers. While there are only two Breweries in the town (apparently), there are several really good places to drink (and eat) that offer a great selection of the nations ales. If you're ever there, I recommend visiting 2BE during the day as it is on the Dijver Canal and makes a very nice place to sit outside on a sunny day (if you can find a table), then if you want a good steak, visit Eetkroeg In 't Nieuw Museum which is great (if a little pricey), then once the steak has gone down, get over to Le Trappiste Bar on Kuipersstraat, and while away the evening/night working your way through their black-board full of ales.

Not sure if I've mentioned it already anywhere.. but I also very much approve of the standard fare Hofbrauhaus beer in Munich... you can drink litre after litre after litre of that stuff and still wake up with a fairly clear head, marvellous! 3 cheers for German purity laws!
