A7/S7/RS7 The Audi A7 is Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the year 2011

I can't say that there is any competing car this year when it comes to design execution. Although I'm not 100% convinced by the A7 it is magnetic to your eyes when it passes by. The art deco lines that gives the car subtle definition to strike a pose in combination with the usually dopey rear. Conincidentally I was moved by one yesterday. It was white, S-Line and is pushed itself through a narrow street in Soho. For the first time ever, the A7 held my attention hostage and also the attention of other pedestrians who locked their eyes on it. You could see it in the eyes that they were thinking "Wait a minute, I've seen an Audi before but why the hell do I find this one to be so visually arresting".

The A7 is subtle luxury, like an Hermes Birkin bag, a bag without a visible logo or recognisable branding.

I'm hit or miss with it. It doesn't move me enough to consider it, and the rear is a weak point, but I respect the design cleanliness and simplicity (while not being really dull or boring).

Oddly enough, I saw a White A6 at a certain angle that actually had it looking pretty powerful and very nice once, during night time. Other than that, it's another clean and respectable design, but it hasn't moved me much.

The statement regarding the "need to behold the A7 in city traffic in order to appreciate it" is so extremely accurate. The A7 has often been hardly the most photogenic automobile, looking a bit awkward from certain angles. But the purity of line, the razor-sharp precision of its' details and the quite becoming architecture of the car furnish an absolutely compelling product. It is a car that will look very good for many years to come.

I very recently had the opportunity to inspect an A7 versus an M-B CLS-comparably equipped S-Line versus AMG Sportpackage w/ 20" alloys, both in dark grey metallic hues, etc. In an urban environment "side-by-side". An occurance that commanded the attention of a number of passers-by. Judging by the comments overheard, the verdict appeared to be clearly in favor of the A7.

The A7 didn't impress me in pictures. On the road, in the metal, it is one of Audi's finest moments - the car just has oodles of presence. Because it's so low and sleek, the slopey-fastback-bum is much less visually evident. I think it's a highly desirable, distinctive and classy car for the well-heeled individual. It's deserving of any accolades.

Here where I live A7 is a popular car, moreso than CLS. It's a very good looking Audi, one of Audi's finest.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks this car is ugly. LOL

While I don't find the car ugly, I don't find it attractive either. I have seen a white one, metallic grey one and a black one on the road, they all look quite ordinary to my eyes.

As much as this hurts for a die hard BMW fan like myself to admit this - it's a hugely desirable car and really beautiful IRL.

True but it's also very colour specific in my opinion and light colours don't do it much favours making it look huge.

It's a very desirable car, one of the few Audi i would seriously consider if i had the money to buy it.

It really is a head turner. I have seen a few around San Francisco and it just oozes with presence. I would unquestionably take one over the CLS which is striking but inelegant (imo). Might be a tougher call when the CLS wagon debuts.

The A7 is Art Deco, design without design, an object that can be kept in an environment without being Visually disruptive or deteriorate in sparkle with time. The only Merc and Bimmer to posses the same aura are the Ocean Drive and the CS Concept. Both of which were sadly never realised.

I guess ugly is the wrong word, because the Aztek is ugly...but this car just doesn't do anything for me. I fine the lines of the new Kia Optima to be more dynamic and fresh then this car. I've seen it in person and I just shook my head and thought to myself: "that front is wasted on this upside down barge."

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
