Is that a penis sculpture on the shelf?
Hmm, I think you referring to one of those lights

It combines a lot of different colors :D
Yeah, all the furniture is from the early 1980s. It was created by a group of Italian industrial designers who wanted to shake up the Italian furniture industry ......they thought Italian design had begun to take itself too seriously. They called their furniture group "Memphis-Milano".

It is intended to be fun and kitsch ......inspired by pop culture and banality.

EDIT: It just occurred to me that @ThroughandThrough was probably reffering to this crazy vase by Matteo Thun:

and what do you think about it? Sometimes it's not so simple to live in such conditions. :)

Well the leader of the group was Ettore Sottsass (1917-2007) he is one of my favourite designers .....but I agree with you that this furniture is not so easy to live with .....it is not particularly practical, comfortable, or restful for your brain. And it's certainly not tasteful

In this scene from the film Ruthless People (1986) We see Danny DeVito walking into his house furnished with Memphis furniture.

Charming and beautiful town.

How much of it is original? ......Warsaw was pretty much wrecked in WW2.

Quote of the wiki. '' Two months of fierce fighting Warsaw uprising brought huge material losses . It destroyed then 25 % of the buildings left-bank Warsaw . Old Town was demolished almost 100 percent ( in 1945 only one building , situated on Long Street 6 , suitable for use). Also they suffered heavily : Will, Powisle , Czerniakow and City Center North . The next place on the list of losses occupied downtown Southern , Mokotów , Żoliborz and Ochota . At the beginning of September 1944 Germany also made a series of destructions in the right-bank Warsaw . Withdrawing from Prague under pressure from the Red Army blew up all the bridges on the Vistula River , as well as burned or blew up railway stations Prague . ''

I have always prefered loft style to all others styles. But in this one I like its simplicity. I mean it´s a little complicated and overloaded with colors, but at least it has some mystery and things to think about.

Guys, thank you so much for your inputs. I did read your answers and went to buy the burgundy one, but at last time I also passed by an Ariston store and....for just 50 dollars more I got a 50% bigger fridge. I wasn't willing to add more stainless steel to my kitchen, but the value was too good to ignore.

I know the damm thing is too big (had to remove a piece of furniture on top of it) but as I make saussage and other processed meats and frozen them, the extra large freezer is very welcome.

I like Sotass design as a fun exercize, but not something that I personally will add to my home. Other designers to check from that era include Andrea Branzi, Michele de Lucchi and Alessandro Mendini. As you like watches, you can check Sotass collaborations with Seiko and Alessi.

I'm not the person to ask about this ...... I think my tastes can be a little bit 'extreme' at times :D

Well, I like colourful stuff, but within limits. I'm going to make a furniture for my living room, which consists of a black laquered steel frame, where you put drawer/boxes in different colours. The idea is something that reminds you of a Rubik's cube. Some will feature doors, some not, and on some space I'll just put a glass (perhaps even in colours, too) to show some decors.

I think of all the colorful choices, burgundy would have been the best, but I think in the long term, stainless steel is the way to go. It'd be nice to add a splash of color to change it up, but after awhile, people get tired of what was seen initially as a nice design flourish. With stainless steel it may be boring, but it will still look good 5 years down the line. IMO, of course. ;)

I were for stainless one :):D But I can definitely say that Ariston is one of the best choices! My mom has it, and I coudn't imagine her more happy than she actually is :)

Indeed they are, Natasha. My water heater is also Ariston. Dad and mom have Ariston's products all over their home from at least 20-25 years, with zero problems. Their electric oven cooks much better than mine, which is from another Italian brand: Nardi. A friend of mine has a Smeg, and it's a pain in the ass, to operate.

I think in the future my home will be overloaded will all this stuff :)

I think I will head downtown tomorrow, to the city centre. I'll take a picture of the building that made me drool as a kid if I can. Just don't expect high quality from my iPhone :D
