***Testdrove a 2007 Mercedes-Benz E280 CDI***

Very nice review Chris...excellent narrative and nice images. Oh, the car is nice also...I liked my '03 E320....but...:D

The diesel should be a big seller here...and once the other 5 states can sell them sales should really pick up.

This is a really great review of the E 280 CDI. Thank you cawimmer430 for present your impressions! :usa7uh:
But I must say the E 280 with a 6-speed-manual is also a pleasure to drive. It is a bit unfortunate that the first gear has a very short gear transmission ratio. But at the Autobahn the CDI plays off his trumps. It is very comfortable (as you describe) and it's "only" consume between 8 to 10 litre.

Danke! :t-cheers:

I don't have the best experiences with Mercedes-Benz manual transmissions. They're simply not designed with "passion in mind" as are those from BMW or Honda. MB just makes manuals to compete, but not for the enthusiastic driver. But their automatics are excellent. :usa7uh:

thanks for the warm welcome cawimmer430. BTW, I would like to suggest that you have a site where you can post all your reviews and car pics there. In this case, one can easily be updated by visiting your site. And..when you have a new review, you can link to the review in this forum. What do you think?:eusa_danc

Anyway, the e280 cdi...just love it. how is the sound system? is there an option for logic 7 like in the 5 series? here in malaysia, you can't get any models with additional options :eusa_doh:

Thanks again. :)

Tell you what, I'll provide you with a link to my countless testdrives. Most of them are on C&D because the search function here is kind of broken. Most of my reviews were posted on www.automobear.com where I was a member, but they've sinced shut down so the updates don't come.

The sound system was pretty good. I'm no expert, but I did drive for awhile with the radio and the sound quality appeared to be much better than the one in our E-Class. Overall, it just feels like a new and improved car. Highly recommendable IMO. :usa7uh:

Thanks Jack. :usa7uh:

BTW, do you think a smaller diesel like the E280 CDI might sell in the US?

It may on the C Class but on the E I think those buyers are looking for a little more kick. I would be interested in a E wagon with the 320CDI Bluetec...I think that would boost the wagon sales here a great deal, as would the C wagon with the 280 CDI.

no worries, and you keep up the good job. in the meantime, i shall be heading down to my local dealer in penang, malaysia to enquire about this car. i think it's a very very beautiful car. i was really into the 5 series at one time, but decided otherwise. maintenance is much higher, the car is bigger and interior is not as pleasant as the E-Class, in my opinion.

I'll send you a list of all my previous testdrives soon. It will take a while since there are so many. :t-cheers:
