Vs TeknikensVarld: M3 E90 vs C63 AMG

Autobahn impressions:
M3 - The reeving is like a poison, so is the engine sound.

C63 - Above 220km/h the C63 is not as stable as the M3, something we arent used from Mercedes. More wind noise from the sidemirrrors than the M3.

- The suspension in C63 is stiffer than the M3. EDC system is very useful.

- In both M3 and C63 we wish the seats could be lowerered, you sit kinda high.

Track impressions (wet and dry):
C63 - Driving in automatic mode feels strange but its working good. No matter what gear you use the power is there. In manual mode we can decide gear on our own but when the reevs gets too high the gearbox change gear on its own, not very effective.

The M3 chassi is more userfriendly than C63 and the steering is more precise.

Conclusion:
As a package the M3 is more complete. And thanks to better suspension ride we prefer the M3. C63 is to harsh for our taste.

Dynotest:
M3 - 13 hp and 30 nm less than BMW claim
C63 - 21 hp and 76 nm less than Mercedes claim

0-160km/h: 10.7 / 10.2 sec
0-200km/h: 16.6 / 15.3 sec
0-250km/h: 29.3 / 27.0 sec
0-402 meter: 13,3 sec@178km/h / 13,2 sec@185km/h
Slalom: 77 / 75.5 km/h

C63 0-100 km/h in 5,2? They did it with the ESP ON?

This carmag is getting bad 0-100km/h almost everytime. When they meassured M3 CSL a couple of years ago they clocked to 5.5 seconds.
The 0-200km/h times are better and more inline with what other carmags are getting though.

5.2... only in Teknikens Värld.

On the other hand, Swedish magazine 'Automobil' also get a lot of strange results.

"In manual mode we can decide gear on our own but when the reevs gets too high the gearbox change gear on its own, not very effective."

Contrary, to what I've seen and heard and even read in some tests...These guys seem to not know how to drive let alone push a button.

I bet they drive better than you :D there is a video if you want to study how they drive ;)

^^Just_Me, the problem is, Why the F__k would you let it rev up so high that the computer has to decide that you're a dumbass and changes gears for you?

Why are you talking to me? :D I didnt do this test. I'm just the messenger :D

This is another review saying M3 is more comfortable ride than C63.
To me its a mystery why MB dont offer adaptive suspension for C63. Isnt that an extra option for the normal C-class?

Stiffer suspension is the best/cheapest shortcut to improved handling (if nothing else, the notion of improved handling). Next time they wil have to work on everything else.

When it comes to 0-100 km/h times, most European magazines SUCK. I know that in the German magazines I completely skip the 0-100 km/h part because I usually get the impression that they're quoting factory times. :t-crazy2:

0-100 times are overrated anyway so it doesnt bother me much.

I know, only people who have no clue about cars will tell you that 0-100 km/h is "everything". :D

Point is that most European magazines always get terrible 0-100 km/h times. I tend to trust American (and EVO) when it comes to this stuff. :usa7uh:

Very true, but then again, to me the 0-100 times are not that interesting. They tell you more about the driver and if the car is 4wd, rwd or fwd than anything else. The later part is quite easy to find out whitout making banzai launches...

Agreed. :t-cheers:

I was racing yesterday against a Saab 93 1.8T and a Nissan Qashqai on the way home from work with working colleagues and not once did we stop the cars and raced from standstill to 100km/h :D We drove from around 80km/h to 160km/h :D the best thing is that the Saab driver is a female :D
