LOL @ the pickup inbetween them! It's like the boxing referee who has to keep the S5 and M3 apart or otherwise they would beat each other up!

I hope it's not a comparison, the M3 will MURDER the S5!
For sure it is a comparison! My guess is that there will be no homicide, TV have never really been a magazine that favours the things BMW tries to put in their cars. I think it will be a close call.

Yet, another not so good comparo between a BMW and an Audi S5. Of course the M3 is going to walk all over it. Who would have guessed!?!?!!
but in the end this carmag will probably give the victory to the Audi so no the M3 wont walk all over the car.
This carmag is more into cars like Volvo and such, they are more into costs, practicality and comfort therefore I think they will rank the S5 over M3.

This comparison has no point IMO.S5 lacks power bigtime to seriously endanger M3 in performance segments.335i is more realistic competitor here that M3.RS5 and M3,that will be a real test.
when S4 V8 existed everyone compared it to M3 E46 but now when the RS4 is here, a S-version cant be compared to a M3?
Audi has new engine coming up to compete with 335i, a Turbo engine with +300hp. So what will happen to S5 becuase when that new turbo engine from Audi comes everyone will compare it to 335i.

Yes,that was then and this is now.E46 had 3,2 litre 6 cylinder with 343 HP and S4 had 344 HP..So,comparring these two makes perfect sense to me.With new M3 and S4,I can´t tell that is the same case,sorry

Whether or not these two cars are comparable, depends on the approach the mag is taking. If it's something along the lines of "should you pay the extra €€€/$$$/SEK for the M3 when buying a car for normal use" then it's OK by me. If they're going to go on about things such as the cars' performance on a track, then it really isn't.

I understand you,perfectly.But,can you honestly say that either M3 or S4 are made and meant for everyday use or something else
?Don´t get me wrong,these are cars for road use mostly and I get that fact.From that point of view,these two don´t make any sense and 335i and 3.2 quattro are quite enough for almost everyone here.C´mon,cars with 300 or more HP don´t make any sense to everday driver IMO.And one more thing:I´m quite sure that S4 beats M3 in comfort and all-weather useability.So,what are we talking about here

yes and 335i with 306hp and S5 with 354hp...makes no sense comparing these eithers and certainly not when the new Turbo engine from Audi comes- S5 is on is own

I heard it from two sources now. Nothing officiell from Audi yet but it will come sooner or later. Count on it.
Audi need something in the same pricerange to compete with E92, in fact so does Mercedes.
Just how big is the price differents for full optied 335i and a S5? I was under the impression that the S5 comes loaded, where the 335i has a rather expensive option sheet. I don't know, we're not getting the S5 in the US until November.
