M3/M4 Stop BMW M3-gone-soft petition

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
lol did you make this petition?

anyways this wont go down well with the BMW crowd:D..
i refuse to sign it until we know more about the car...
if EVO doesent like it..thats it.. im signing it..im sorry:D

I don't know If you are informed, but it was said a long time ago by M GmbH officials:

There will be plenty new M-models: every particular model with own specific personality & characteristics. Much broader appeal to masses.

There will be much more CSL / CS versions as well: hard core versions for hard core driving enthusiasts. Specific appeal to specific customers.

*****

"M" will slowly (kind a) become analog to Audi's "S" versions, while CSL / CS will be more analog to "RS". Even better: M will be a step above "S", as well "CSL / CS" models will positioned above "RS". That was a necessary reaction to the stiffer competition.

New world order. ;):D

PS: Btw, E92 M3 is not as bad as initial reviews are trying to picture it. There is nothing wrong with the steering. I got the hint the first bunch of production tires are not performing as good as expected - therefore a bit worse steering feel (prototype tires were much better). But that is already being addressed.

Yet I'm sure M engineers will add some additional weight to the steering feeling in "Sport" mode (selected via Mdrive) in production models. Just in case. :usa7uh:

Those cars been tested by different carmags, are these production cars meaning will these be sold to customers as a "used" M3?

Or are these just pre-production cars, meaning only staying with BMW behind closed doors?

Seriously, this car is amazing, so what if its not 'hardcore'.. its a BMW. and were i come from thats a luxury car not a crap quality made korean car.

I think it looks great and I also bet you will all do a 360 degree turn one day because I have faith that the M division would not screw up there bread and butter car :D

That would be a huge mistake IMHO.

Someone from BMW remarked to me early this year that Audi's strategy with the RS line is "strange". The person observed that sales of the S4 have tanked since the RS4 became available.

I think the same thing would happen to BMW, EXPECIALLY in the US. If the M3 is diluted merely to leave room for a CSL that I cannot even get in the US, then I will NOT get the M3. I suspect many others will feel the same.

I do not think the E46 CSL caused this problem for two reasons. First, the CSL was extremely limited production. Second, the performance of the standard M3 was far ahead of its competition when it was released, so M enthusiasts did not feel that something was being held back to leave room for a higher model. To me, it seemed as if the CSL was developed after the standard M3 was released, almost as an engineering exercise rather than a marketing strategy.

I will not feel the same way if the scenario Eni is describing comes true. Particularly if the CSL is a Europe-only product.

Are you sure that is what you meant to say, Eni? Is the M3 bad, but just not "as bad" as the initial reviews portray it? :D

You have to remember that when the E46 M3 was released it was the only performance coupe available as an M car - although the M Coupe was available , The M3 was a different segment .

Today the top M car in the line up is the BMW M6 - There was no way BMW would compromise the M6 by moving the M3 up to it's level. The M3 remains as the Mid level M car , I have said previously the M3 would take patience because of what it's intentions are.

In this day and age each generation of M3 has reloaded itself in size, weight , engine and performance - Todays requirements for preformance Coupes are much more demanding than yesterday with the need for crash prevention , enhanced technology better fuel consumption etc and of course upgraded performance to keep on top of current events.

I would not say the M3 has gone soft but has maturered .

Having spent so much time behind the wheel of one until I take delivery at the end of the month is testament to this fact - The more I am behind the wheel the more the car shares it's emotions with me , you cannot learn everything within a few hours or a day.

Now look at the 135i Coupe - do you honestly believe BMW are just leaving the perfect car for the M badge on the sidelines? The 1er Coupe has the potential to be the true incarnation of the beginning of the M3 story.
Everything you see at BMW has a purpose maybe not today or tomorrow but you will see eventually this purpose emerge as a reality.

Oh and PS : Thanks another petition we will shove in the special filing cabinet - ie the Shredder....

I think I speak for many when I say this: We don't care for the M6!!

It is a larger car and we expect it to be refined and the M3 to be slightly more raw. The M6 is unlike the M3 an very new car and lacks any sort of novelty factor which would make M fans even shed a tear if the M3 was a sportier car.

Scott27: So BMW dont care if RS4 and the upcoming C63 handles better and has better driving dynamics than the new M3?

I really hope the new C63 and RS4 really trash the new M3 both on the track and in driving involvement. Then BMW can stand there with their pants down and be ashamed for ruining an icon, the legendary M3.

:eusa_snoo

wow thats a very diffrent tune Scott..
before you sounded like the M3 brochure..
and now you say it needs time..
ohh well...

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
