GT-R Steve Sutcliffe pits the 2013 Nissan GT-R against the all new Alpina B6

The Nissan GT-R (Gran Turismo–Racing; model code: R35) is a series of cars built by Nissan from 2007 to 2025. It has a 2+2 seating layout and is considered both a sports car and a grand tourer. The engine is front-mid mounted and drives all four wheels. It succeeds the Nissan Skyline GT-R, a high-performance variant of the Nissan Skyline. The car is built on the PM platform, derived from the FM platform used in the Skyline and Nissan Z models. Production is conducted in a shared production line at Nissan's Tochigi plant in Japan.

The GT-R is Nissan's most powerful weapon, an accurate tool, designed to compete with the likes of the 911 or even the R8, while costing about half the money. Mildly improved for 2013, its 3.8l twin turbo V6 generates 542bhp at 6200rpm and 630Nm between 3200 and 5800 rpm, sent to all four wheels via a sophisticated AWD system, that has the gearbox and central differential at the back, for optimum weight distribution. On the other hand, the Alpina B6 is a luxury coupe, a cruiser or GT if you may, with about the same power (532bhp between 5200 and 6250 rpm and 730Nm between 2800 and 5000 rpm) yet a vastly different character.

For most people, the Nissan GT-R doesn't have anything in common with the Alpina B6, but Steve Sutcliffe begs to differ. He even goes on to thrash both of them around the Brands Hatch circuit, trying to find out which is is more fun to drive and which more fun to drive, before moving in to the public roads.

If you are curious as to in which ways these two cars are similar, or which one is Mr. Sutcliffe's choice, you will have to watch the above video.
