Mercedes of tomorrow: lifestyle crossover SUV with electric drive
Is the "electric R-Class" coming? First pictures of the 2022 Mercedes EQC II

1.jpg

CAUGHT! First pictures of a completely new fully electric Mercedes EQ model for 2022. The EQ series brings a breath of fresh air to the Daimler Group and is growing from year to year with new models.

Not only are existing generations electrified, but completely new EQ models are also coming onto the market. The future Mercedes EQE and EQS make the start, but this lifestyle crossover SUV with ambitions of a station wagon will follow. All of these models have one thing in common, they are based on the purely electrical Eva II platform (Modular Electrical Architecture MEA), which was specially developed for the EQ series.

According to insiders, this prototype is the Mercedes EQC II. It is even described as a modern electrical successor to the Mercedes R-Class and will replace the current EQC. The current series of the Mercedes EQC is still on the old platform Eva I, an intermediate platform based on the outdated Mercedes GLC. Eva I was the first step into electromobility from Mercedes, but the current Mercedes EQC has been a big flop so far. There is no demand, the range is too short and the customers of an EQC are more than dissatisfied.

So it should be much better with the Mercedes EQC II based on the Eva II platform. The new model has an independent design and stands out from all other Mercedes models. This prototype has nothing in common with the current Mercedes EQC. In terms of design, you can clearly see the EQ front. As with the EQE and EQS, the side mirrors sit on the doors. Overall, this prototype of the EQC II is longer than the current EQC, but the rear window sits flatter. So it should also offer more space in the interior. Various drive concepts such as front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive can be expected.

No one knows what this is. I'm seeing EQC, EQS, or whatever on every site around. No one knows what this thing is. I do know it's ugly.

It seems that yes, time to change the name of the thread

New 2022 Mercedes EQE electric SUV spied for the first time

New Mercedes EQE SUV to boost brand's electric ranks, sitting above the EQC and alongside the EQE saloon

This is the upcoming all-electric Mercedes EQE SUV. Spotted during development testing for the first time, the electric SUV will form part of the German manufacturer’s EQ sub-brand when it arrives in 2022, lining up as a direct rival for the Tesla Model X.

Mercedes’ ambition is to have a fleet of fully electric models under the EQ brand that mirror the firm’s conventional line-up. The first was the EQC - an electric alternative to the GLC - and arriving at the end of this year will be the more compact EQA and EQB models.

I wonder what’s this stupid naming logic, like one car is a sedan then other is an suv, no consistency. And the current EQC is so popular that it is worth to keep the design language? I think it would be smarter to drop it as soon as possible and develop a more suitable design. The EQS as a sedan looks nice, but the EQC is quite the opposite, not even talking about the upcoming EQA and EQB...

There is no way this to be the new EQC. The current model is only one year old and if we listen to Daimler, they have spent billions in developing it. It should have a lifespan of at least 5 years.

I think u could be right it could well be a eqe..

Or maybe they take the billions spent refine it R&D and add the new ev platform and better batteries and make it the EQC...

M-B appears to be applying more pressure on the accelerator of their "EQ" offensive. And they need to increase that pressure quickly. The company is not finding itself in the calmest of currents and competitive pressure (and not only from German manufacturers) is mounting relentlessly. A highly focused, committed, emphasis on highest possible quality as well as margins not volume is of highly crucial essence. They'd better get cracking as they do not have much time.
