[Spy Shots] SHOCK!!! Secret new BMW car spied!

I provide CM info.

But when I debate with othere members here - arguing with them - I do it in my own name. So does the guys behind the Scott.

When we give info we are CM, when we argue we are just Tine, G, or T, or etc.

:t-cheers:

I'm sure it's a bit tricky, but most of the members here ave the ability to distinguish CM from personal opinions. I'm sure you'll be able to do it as well soon.

My head hurts from all of this. Can we get back to the topic of the thread? I for one am very interested in seeing this concept revealed.

The Modular platform for the new 1er was originally offered to Daimler until they seen the brief for BMW's product offensive which paled in signifigance to the strategy for Mercedes-Benz's model plan , to which they decided to go alone and expand their models because BMW were serious about their expansion in the compact segment. The area where there will be higher levels of growth in the next few years.

Another view of what happened is that Mercedes Benz felt BMW had gone down the wrong road with the next 1er and the 1er platform was unsuitable for Mercedes/Smart. The Mercedes execs also felt the BMW 1er will not be a commercial success. I tend to buy this story more as Dr. Zetsche is an infinitely pragmatic person (as is Dr Thomas Weber) and they would have definitely picked up BMW's offer of the 1er had it been a suitable platform (especially in difficult times like now). There were also disagreements over whether Mercedes should pay for part of the R&D expenses already incurred by BMW in designing the 1er if Mercedes had took up BMW's offer.

Here is a rendering I did. Please excuse the details as it's a bit rushed.

Avoiding all the other talking on this...Nice chop man. The only thing is that if I remember correctly the rear door is a suicide door (like the RX-8) so you might want to change the handle or simply just get rid of it and keep the door line. :t-cheers:

Looks interesting...definitely a new preview of the upcoming 6er.
Couple of things...
A) I'm hoping the sizable ground clearance is in light of moving the car on a transporter or the substitute tires/wheels
B)This looks like we are going back in "revolutionary" mode in terms of an overall design language.

Now, in light of the last 3-4 pages of off-topic discussion, I figured I'd start a new thread, since many of you have touched on topics I've thought about lately with BMW, especially when they introduced the M-versions of the X5/6.

Shameless thread plug: http://www.germancarforum.com/bmw-l...ent-future-what-does-mean-you.html#post401247

That way we can focus on what to make of this concept, and you guys can debate about the broader topics in the other thread.
:t-cheers:

Yes, that is a great chop! The middle part of the front bumper looks almost un-designed, just stretched...

actually i also think that no one of the CM Team needs to justify any posts or BMW decisions - if they are willing to share the reasons for certain decisions i guess that they would do it any way.
and c'mon guys ... asking for the sources name is just idotic :t-crazy2: and plain naive

its really sad that such an important thread gets hijacked for another CM discussion. this car is going to be really important for the future of BMW Technology and BMW Design - thats what we should concentrate on and discussion(its a forum, right ?)

we would have needed a moderator since several pages who cleans the mess and doesn't contribute to the mess!

oooh, the irony!

Cool! The bigger kidneys make the whole front look more aggressive.

More aggressive? Yes
More beautiful? No

What BMW will preview here is their design plot to counter the demoralising EU regulations that force manufacturers to engineer a more pedestrian friendly bumper.

An upright front-end is not improved visually improved by the enlargement of kidney grills. Huge kidney grills are imposing and disturb the balance of what would otherwise be very beautiful cars. The counter balance of an upright front nose will come from redesign in bumper design as seen on the gorgeous chop posted a few pages back.

^ That's personal. I love the current upright huge 7er grille. Looks stunning when I see one driving past me on the road.
I do agree that the chop looks bad though. Very ugly design proposal that will never see the day of light and was only posted here to hype things up. Scott would never leak these kind of shots if this was a real to-be-released Bimmer.

We have just come fourth to deny the car , But T. has just confirmed that this not the IAA concept but it does feature some cues.
Very seldom people have seen the car because BMW are keeping it hidden , there are only a few within BMW who have seen the car .
But BMW employees will get to see the car on the eve of the IAA. But this is a final of 3 for the 6er GT.

I must say the roofline/greenhouse looks like some bad chinese copy of a merc...

This must be a gt 3 design exaple? or maybe a gt6?

^ Indeed, greenhouse is a complete mess. Where the F is the Hofmeister???
Also, the backdoor cutline is like it's from the X family. Not good on a sedan, needs E46/F01/F10/E60/etc. style backdoors with the straight line

Fail!!!!!

Scott, please no more nonsense. This is no secret new BMW.

The western world are not going to relate to this design - mark my words, BMW AG!

The eastern world will though...And IF that is your new target market, well done!

MARK MY WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moderation is in need when members start personally insulting and blatantly antogonising each other. Whilst the debate around this has been heated and mildly confrontational I see no particular reason for thread moderation nor which post or member to moderate.

This debate is essential for both fans of BMWs past & present and BMW themselves as an organisation.

EnI touts the moniker "Debate equals maximum publicity" and to that effect I say let the debate rage on as I feel that the thought, feeling and passion behind what is said is invaluable information for BMW itself.

This is best kind of market research and customer survey they could have ever asked for.

So now, debate also equals maximum exposure to what all of our customers want.

I just hope they're listening...
