Next generation 911 (992 ?) mule have been spotted for the first time, the car will debut in late 2018, possibly at Paris autoshow with the Carrera & Carrera S. The engine will likely be carry over from the 991.2 with a small bump in horsepower.

I'm thinking this is a variation of the 991.2... I highly doubt that it's the successor.

Porsche gets things started early. 991.2 development started immediately after the launch of the 991.1. 992 development probably started even earlier considering it is a much larger project. I read that Porsche started preliminary work on the 991 the week after the 997 launched.

Not sure if this is a 992 mule or something for the 991.2 range.

That's unlikely the 991 GT2, if they decide to make this car they would based it on the Turbo/GT3 RS, not on the narrow body of the carrera 2.

991 based 997 mule were first spotted in mid-2008 with the first spy shot of the prototype with the 991 body being spotted exactly 7 years ago (november 21, 2008 : http://www.germancarforum.com/threads/2011-porsche-911-991-spy-pics-info.25429/#post-347044 ). So I'm quite sure this is the 992 mule.

I'm not sure that this mule will be for the next generation 992. I see some details to think isn't the future generation and I've seen a lot mules and prototypes from porsche (and others) in my life. I see this car has one roll in the interior and they only equip this security element when they drive in one track circuit. I don't see this for driving in a regular road. But this details is not very important

But the difference between front axle and rear axle is the most important detail, for me, to think isn't one 992 mule. I see the rear wheelcase is covered with a protection used to hide a wider track, in this case the rear track, but in the front track I don't see anything to hide a wider track. I don't think that Porsche has decided to keep the same front track from 991 with 1541 mm and rear track will be a bit more wide. Would be very rare, but it's possible too.

But I've been agreed too with you, if were the 991 GT2 or GT2 RS, the mule would based it on the Turbo/GT3 RS.
