Panamera [Spy Shots] Next generation Porsche Panamera (II) Spy Pics & Info

The Porsche Panamera is a mid to full-sized luxury car (E-segment or F-segment for LWB in Europe) manufactured and marketed by Porsche. The Panamera name, as with the Carrera name, is derived from the Carrera Panamericana race.

What do we know about the next generation Porsche Panamera? I am curious about some stuff though:

1. Will it be longer to make room for the smaller Porsche sedan in the future?
2. Will it have both sedan and wagon variants?*

*Some have said that the next Panamera could be in a shooting brake/wagon form only because of the Sport Turismo concept. I think it will still have a fastback sedan body because wagons aren't really popular outside Europe and wasn't it reported in the original plan that the Panamera will have a sedan, wagon and coupe variant...

1.bigger, yes. Just like the quattroporte makes room for the ghibli, next XF making room for the new smaller Jaguar sedan, etc.

2. Fastback will be the main bodystyle. Wagon is still a probability. No sedan. The new Smaller Porsche sedan will be more a three box sedan albeit probably with a hatchback ala audi a5 sportback. But definitely not a hunchback, that ugliness is exclusive to the Panamera.

fastback will be the main body style? no sedan? I thought a fastback was a type of sedan. hmm...

Porsche CEO Matthias Müller has alluded to the series II Panamera in several interviews. It appears that the next Panamera generation will eventually evolve into a line of models. The "hunchback" sedan (albeit with FAR less of a hunchback) will most likely be complemented by a Sport Turismo-inspired shooting brake. A 2 door derivative in coupe and cabriolet form also appears to be very much in the cards. The VW-Groups' upcoming MSB platform opens myriad possibilities.

...in addition, the series II Panamera is anticipated to be lower and wider than the current car. But only very slightly, if at all, longer (SWB version).

so it's sure that the fastback Panamera will remain, a wagon is a possibility and maybe even coupe and cabrio. what about engines...will they share engines with Audi?

As far as engine-sharing with Audi goes, I suspect that this would only apply to diesel powerplants (Audi-designed 3.0 TDI and 4.2 TDI) and perhaps...only perhaps...the Audi-designed 3.0 V6 TSFI petrol engine. V8 petrol engines will surely remain Porsche-designed units.

2016 Porsche Panamera mule spied for the first time

Could weigh 200 lbs (91 kg) less than its predecessor

Porsche recently unveiled a facelifted Panamera but that hasn't stopped the company from working on the next-generation model.
Caught undergoing testing on the Nürburgring, the 2016 Panamera mules are conducting chassis tests to ensure the new platform is up to snuff.
Little is known about the redesigned model but it is expected to have a more attractive appearance that is heavily influenced by the Panamera Sport Turismo concept. The car is also slated to ride on the new MSB platform (modular standard architecture) that will be shared Bentley and possibly Lamborghini. Thanks to its steel and aluminum construction, the platform could enable the Panamera to weigh 200 lbs (91 kg) less than its predecessor.

I think the next generation Panamera will be an even greater onslaught on Audi, Mercedes and BMW. With two SUV in the line up the Panamera could reasonably be be available in two body variants: a 2 plus 2 sports coupe and a longer wheel base limousine.

OT: Is the smaller panamera (pajun) green lighted?

PS
I need to acquire sufficient funds to get this new Panamera..or at least a used Panamera GTS (current gen)

Not having one keeps me up at nights:(

In fact, the MSB matrix will be confined to Porsches' Panamera II , the projected sub-Panamera codenamed "Pajun" and the successors to Bentleys' current Continental GT, Flying Spur and Mulsanne lines. The Audi A8, Phaeton and all large VW-Group SUVs' will be based on the MLBevo matrix.

I question the accuracy of the renderings posted above. Especially with regard to the height of the hoodline and mass of the sheetmetal in front of the A-pillars/firewall. A more "dynamic" approach as seen on the Sport Turismo Concept would appear more likely.

^^ pew, that's good news. I don't want no Porsche on a VW/Audi platform. So the less shared the better.

The MSB matrix was developed under Porsches' R & D stewardship. But VW and Audi also contributed a bit of their own "Hirnschmalz".

In an organization as large as the VW-Group, many decisions are susceptible to "politicization". And such was the case pertaining to the use of MSB versus MLBevo underpinnings. Indeed, the use of the MSB matrix for the successors to the Audi A8/S8 and Phaeton (as well as a now highly unlikely Lamborghini Estoque) was considered. As was also the use of the MLBevo for the successors to Bentleys' current cars. As it now stands, the only future Bentley to use the MLBevo will be the upcoming über-SUV. All else will be MSB derived.

Whatever platform they use...trust this to be the best sports sedan in the world.. with a great margin..

Im already excited to see it.. i think this time around they will make it as visually striking as its amazing to drive..

Panamera fan for life! :D

Despite its' "questionable" exterior design, the current Panamera has sold in numbers that have far surpassed initial Porsche AG projections. And the series II car will certainly be a far more compelling propostion in terms of its' visual appearance. It will be a very serious competitor in its' segment.

When will be the introduction of the next generation?

Fall 2015 at the IAA in Frankfurt at the very earliest, perhaps as a production-near concept of the sedan version. Spring/summer 2016 currently appearing a bit more likely.
