Cooper [Spy Shots] Leaked! Next Gen MINI Cooper

I like the fabric dash topping as well as the leather strap. High tech modern with an edge of the historic.

I'm liking what I see in the pics. Could be an interesting choice for me in a few years. Having a small but rather nice EV for the daily drive to work is a nice option.

Do you know how is the JCW expected to be and look like?

It’s interesting how The LCI MINI segues into the next generation model. I am hoping for a minimal and subtle less is more look like the new Range Rover applied to the next MINI.

Since this is a Cooper S. I am noting the decision to remove the hood scoop which was a characteristic of the Cooper S.
With JCW I expect more aerodynamics and a rear diffuser.

For a while I was considering a high-km 2003 Cooper S in rare Liquid Yellow, and white roof and white Minilite wheels, immaculate but signs of ageing apparent. bid at about €2,500.

It already was a nonfunctional gimmick, but on an EV version it would be just stupid. Glad it's not there anymore. Think of something else for the EV era and make that iconic.

This was right in front of us the entire time.

I wonder if the rear insignia bar lights up?
There is plans to introduce iconic glow from
Rolls-Royce and BMW to MINI. I don’t know if the rumours are true that it will be called “Virtue Signalling?”
Work in Progress…

Asking about the mood about this leak today. Not overly thrilled with the reveal taken in the compound of its Chinese partner.

But apparently this is not the new MINI as such but the sunroof gives it away that it’s a smaller mini-MINI a production variant of the Rocketman idea albeit Electric only but closer to the 2001 MINI rather than the B approaching C-segment F56.

The ICE Cooper S. Notice the differences.

This is another car totally different from the leak and the black and white camouflages

I do not see substantial changes in this yellow compared to the current one, the first time I see these mules

The mystery was revealed there will be a new MiNi from the normal one and the Rocketman too, interesting

In The MINITRIX if you took the red pill you got the MINI. If you took the blue pill you would have got the 2K2.

Assuming that these pics are legitimate, then it's reasonable to say that they're of the long-rumoured 2002 revival commissioned by Dr Wolfgang Reitzle in the late 90s.

When the E46 3 Series was launched, it was felt at the time that the vehicle, whilst beautifully engineered as a BMW, had deviated markedly from it's sporty driver-centric origins which was started from and was epitomised by the 2002. This project was commissioned with the objective of recapturing that "magic". I've heard that great effort was made to reduce weight (amongst other means, it had wind-down windows)- and to tune the steering/suspension to give it that 'second-skin" feel. Would be very grateful, Scott if you could post more picture of this and other secret BMW models. Thanks!

“The BMW 2K2 took its name from one of the most legendary BMWs ever built: the BMW 2002. In this sense, the creation of this two-door, four-seater sports sedan represents a throwback to the BMW that preceded the 3 Series.

Originally planned to launch in 2002, the BMW 2K2 was a true exercise in engineers and designers working at a lightning pace in small teams and in close alignment to make the BMW 2K2 feasible for actual production. New technologies were used, and the BMW 2K2 became the first-ever BMW to have its initial design and engineering phase carried out entirely with digital tools, including 3D forms and virtual design tools. With the latest technology at their disposal, the creators began their work in 1997 and presented a feasible prototype in 1999, just 18 months later.

The goal was to build a prototype that was designed and engineered to meet all relevant requirements for successfully building and selling the car, and the BMW 2K2 even came close to being considered for serial production. Ultimately, the prototype was never given an E-number. Had it gone into serial production, though, the 2K2 would have been a kind of the BMW 1 Series Coupe and would have replaced the BMW 3 Series Compact (E46 and E45), in the form of a more basic and lightweight car. In terms of engine choices, the 2K2 had capacity to fit any of the smaller-capacity BMW engines, from 1.8 to 2.2 liters, with either four or six cylinders, making it best-in-class in terms of power per weight.”

2K2 was brought about by the Rover issues.
@ BMW at this time it was civil war. You had one side that agreed to cut its losses on Rover to another that kept on sustaining life support. The rapidness of 2K2 shows in the fact that it’s aesthetic is very much of the early nineties era that brought E38 and E39 rather than the mid-late nineties of E46 and X5 And the 2000s E65.

Its face if you will -A Bangle inspired single light was reinterpreted for the E46 Compact.
It also led to the eventual inception of the 1er which planned to mimic the 3er at first conception. It was not the first BMW 5dr hatch as they looked at a 5dr E36 which looked OK. The 2 1er sporthatches, Coupe and Cabrio but there were ideas for a Sedan and a Touring and Z2 Sportscar which made advanced stages.
In essence at least 2K2 did make it to the market in the guise of the E87 1er Coupe.

They say history repeats itself and when you look at today’s 1er, 2er Gran Coupe and Active Tourer you see those ideas come back to life as originally planned concepts albeit all respective of modern marketing requirements.

A smaller MINI for entry is an excellent idea.
Although I do not perceive well in those spy pics, that must mean that the "normal" that you published in yellow has to grow a little, surely closer to a Golf?

MINI

Mini (stylized as MINI) is a British automotive brand founded in 1969, owned by German BMW since 2000, and used by them for a range of small cars assembled in the United Kingdom, Austria, and the Netherlands. The word Mini has been used in car model names since 1959, and in 1969 it became a brand in its own right when the name "Mini" replaced the separate "Austin Mini" and "Morris Mini" car model names.
