1 Series [Spy Shots] BMW 1-Series coupe

The BMW 1 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since 2004. Positioned as the entry-level model in BMW range of products, the first generation was produced in hatchback, coupé and convertible body styles.
To me, none of the 1er versions look sexy... I do like it, but i also think that they could have done much better job with it's design.

:t-cheers:

I don't think any of the 1ers look sexy either, but the 1er Coupe actually has/had a shot at bucking the trend. This rear treatment just seems way too vanilla, too "volume seller" to do the trick.

Haven't you learned BMW?! Don't come to market with half-assed designs. You learned this with the 3er Compact and the North American flop that was the 318. I'm just scared now that this thing will come to market half-crippled thanks to BMW playing protector to their upmarket offerings.

Those rearlights look very similar to old 3-serie E46. Famous L-shape

haha messages to Osna and Ty :D

Eni,Scott, since facelifted 6er was revealed today does this mean we have to wait another month before we see the official pressrelease on the 1-series Coupé?

No you should see the Coupe press release in July .

This is the first of the news for the IAA beginning with the 6er Coupe and Cabrio LCI . Of course with upcoming news from the Other BMW Group brands for the IAA - The real star of the show will not be shown until the eve of the show - similar to the roll out of the M3 Concept Car.

And no the M3 Cabrio will not be there that debuts in Los Angeles , With the M3 sedan (film and photography begins in October) for January
announcement prior to Geneva motor show.

Before the year is out you will see as new product the 1er Cabrio , M3 Cabrio and the X6 amongst the usual engine updates , innovation etc.

The 1er Cabrio will debut alongside the US versions of the Coupe in January @ Detroit .

Sorry guys, but i don't like the rear of the 1 coupe at all. The design of the lights seem to be very odd to me. It's like the lights are square and the boot lid covers a part of them.

It's the first BMW model i don't like the last 5 years. A big let down as far as i am conserned, which ruins the whole design.

Giannis, couldn't agree with you more

What's wrong BMW??

Can't make decent rear ends anymore??
On the 3 series sedan it's short of disastrous even though its more tolerable on the 3 series coupe.

with respect to the 1 series hatch it may be considered bland and unoriginal, but it was a safe, simple and unoffensive design.
As for the coupe, it's equivalent to stabbing ones self in the back or in this case the rear end if you now what I mean. And in comparison the rear of the 1er hatch seems much nicer now

I don't know whether BMW designers are running out of ideas or intensionally held back on the rear end design to prevent the 1 series from cannibalizing sales from the 3 coupe.

I hope that clearer pics and different angles will change my mind because I had great expectations for the 1 coupe.
