The global second-hand parts market (ebay) is more lucrative than ever, so (European cars especially) are being salvaged and/or dismantled quicker than ever.

And with all the complicated electronics, people are much less inclined to pay for major out-of-warranty repairs.

Years ago I used to frequent salvage yards just to explore, and the only European cars I would see were usually 10-15+ years old. Now if a European car is 5-10 years old or from last generation there's a good chance you'll spot a few at any salvage yard.

Whereas in Finland, the average age of cars being scrapped has been rising steadily, and is now slightly over 20 years.

Just a regular boring day in Munich.

The Mercedes C126 is a 500SEC and the "G-Class" is a Steyr-Puch 230GE, basically a Mercedes G-Class but with a Steyr-Puch badge!

And the highlight of the day for me was this lovely 230E W123! I LOVE THE W123!

Monster, that was awesome!

I saw an S210 E180 wagon today as I drove past it in the city. They must have gotten the "180" badging from a C-Class. I wish I could have snapped a picture!

Today's sightings, a Ferrari 550 Maranello (no photos), a Mercedes C126 SEC Coupe which overtook me in traffic, and a BMW 2002 which is being restored by the talented BMW mechanic who also changes and stores my summer/winter tires.
