Sightings SPOTTED TODAY - Part 6

Interesting vehicle sightings, rare finds, exotic cars, classics, and unexpected encounters.
When it comes to Continentals, or American Luxury Sedans in general, IMO nothing touches the early-mid 60's Continentals ('65 is my favorite). THAT was the golden era of that car. Clean and boxy proportions, timelessly crisp and slab sided detailing (or lack thereof), with massive stateliness so impacting, it looked like it was designed to be driven by the Devil.

Indeed.

The 1961-63 Lincoln Continental was one of the finest automobiles ever to leave an American production line. Timeless in the clarity of its' design and innovative in its' technical content. Still absolutely gorgeous today.

And an interesting bit of trivia:

The legendary 1961-63 T-Bird ("Bullet Bird") was originally intended to be marketed as Lincolns' "personal luxury" car. A smaller and sportier offering positioned below the Continental. One can see the similarities in design between the T-Bird and Continental of that era. For some reason or another, the marketing folks at FoMoCo decided that the Bullet-Bird would be better positioned as the Ford brands halo car.

Interesting! My friend actually has a T-Bird of that year, and I always thought it looked so much like a Continental.

And very much agreed, the early-mid 60's Continental is a legend in every sense of the word. I swear, the day I get some garage space, I am buying one! They aren't as expensive as one would think (some are, but like most Classics, prices are allll over the place).

E61 would be really weird in between those two brothers.

No, the rear looks good. And GREAT in that pic above. Very nice looking there.

Hate the double fogs thigh. Damn that's nasty, still.

Hmm, maybe it's because of the crazy chamo cars around it, but that CLS looks kind of.. "bland", for lack of a better word. Not bad in any way, and it's actually nice to see that the car can in fact appear simple-ish if need be. It's just that M-B hypes it as such a extravert so much, you almost would expect it to hold that charisma everywhere.

Munich Rice Special :D

Some of them aren't rice but they still look goofy...
