Phantom is one of a kind. Its rival is a Lear Jet or a Yacht or some priceless piece of Art or that Chateau in France.

Oh for God's sake, have a day off.

oh spare me this marketting b.s.
As pricey as the Phantom is, I would be very surprised if anybody is choosing between it and a chateau or yacht.

Nothing personal to Scott, he's a great member, but inflated gobbledygook is a huge turnoff.

I've been saying this for a long, long time. This is a car forum, not a place for people to make PR statements and post marketing nonsense. He actually turns me off BMW in general, as some kind of Pavlovian response. I really wish he would just go away. And a "great member"? In what way? 90% of his posts are crap like this. He used to be a good member.

To be fair to Scott, I think if you take his posts as a face-value indication of the companies current thinking, they are usually quite interesting - even if it's only to confirm obvious suspicions.

My biggest complaint with Scott, is when he says "Soon we will see.....", I think "Great, we'll be seeing that tomorrow then", whereas what he really means is "At some stage between 6 months and 3 years time..." ;)

As for the comments on the Rolls-Royce, I can kind of understand the sentiment. It's not about being a rival by comparing out-right purchase cost, or single purpose - it's more about being rivals for the owners most 'favoured' possession. I know for a fact my top 3 possessions are not of similar form, function or cost.

:D

I like your post, @Matski You put your point across well, and even make a lot of sense. We need more people like you on this forum.

However, it doesn't make Scott's fan boy posts any less nauseating.

Come on Betty, people are who they are and are not going to change. Pick the good parts out and never mind the rest, that should work.

Well, I do try to ignore it, believe me. I just felt I had to back up two other people saying the same thing, so I felt I had to say my piece. Again.

But yes, you're right.

Well in this instance I can't even blame you, because I wanted to say something myself as well :D
Instead, I calculated you'd need to buy around 50 Phantoms to by one Yacht. Or, around a 130-40 Phantoms if you bought cars instead of a 'priceless' piece of art, which is around 100 million Euros these days..

Point is, if you are rich enough to buy a Phantom, a Phantom is just a car. These people wear watches costing much more than their cars cost.

And a watch is just a watch, a painting is just a painting, and a ming dynasty vase is just a ming dynasty vase.

Just because you can afford anything, doesn't mean you fail to see value in quality. In fact, the chances are, if you can afford anything (and have earned it), chances are you've got a keen eye for the finer things... and what is a finer automobile than a Rolls-Royce?

This! and ive been saying it since before most of you were around.

Thank you, i would like this moment to thank Scott and his vivid imagination, and also the naivety of the members for believing he actually is sent here by BMW.
Also i want to thank the internets. Without it we would be nothing.

You can actually buy boats, art and homes at the cost of your Phantom especially if you go bespoke.
Like I am sure someone would probably buy some squiggles on a piece done by LaArtist called "My emotional angst and intellectual vapidity" for a high price because he sure is priceless...

I am one person that doesn't really have any interest in any RR product, so if I was a rich boy there are other cars and things I would rather purchase than this ugly cliff faced ship on wheels. I like driving cars and sure would one day like to be passenger in one of these to get the experience, but I don't really like them that much, they boring like watching paint dry on a wall. These cars have always been referred to as old mans cars whenever I have been, although nowadays there are rich youngsters in Middle East driving them. No doubt they are magnificently built, superbly quiet and refined and mega comfortable cars but reading Scott write that marketing BS like its the last car a person would dream of when they nod off is really annoying.

This is GermanCAR4um, not some GossipGirl4um, or SCOTTxx4um.

So please (!!!!!!!!!!!) discuss CARS, not other members & their role here. Otherwise debates can turn into a blood bath, since nobody is innocent. And be cautious when throwing stones while actually living in a glass house! Nobody here is a perfect member (myself incl.)! And when / if we really start to discuss each other's role / contribution / writing style etc here ... then it could get pretty ugly.

So, stay on topic, guys. And the topic is CARS, 2018 RR Phantom in this particular case.

If somebody posts an info or an opinion on A CAR, please discuss that opinion / info with regard to that car, not to the author of the post!!!!!!!!

I'm really sick & tired of constant & continuous off-topic discussions on other members. They are toxic to this forum. And I expect from to mods to finally & forever address that issue. An instant 2-day ban for everyone (Scott & I incl.) who posts a rant / attack on other member here would be a perfect solution. Such draconian measure would prevent future off-topic discussions here, IMHO.

Thank you!

Through out the years the mods have told members in public and in private to be respectful and tolerant to each other. I have also said that we treat members here as adults, we are not here to baby sit. It is so easy for me to delete posts and ban members that I don't agree with, but this is a discussion forum on the internet, we value the freedom we have, and the opportunity to be able to connect with different car enthusiasts around the world. There are many opinions I don't agree with but then again that is the purpose of a discussion. However there are boundaries that we wish all members to understand. they are listed on the forum guidelines here:

http://www.germancarforum.com/help/rules-and-guidelines/

If anyone here disagrees or feels that it is impossible for them to conduct themselves in the manner as suggested by the guidelines, please leave, if not, we will help you.

Joke?
Don't you like the MB ethos?

And joke?
You actually care about what Scott says and project that on a real brand/car

PLease give me a F'ing break, Cars? what about the members including myself that get banned, and then slanderd without the chance to defend themselfs? Or even when members of this forum run along to other forums and drag your name through the dirt ( yes that happend aswell).

We discuss whatever we discuss, no one personally attacked the man, nor his private life, values, belifes or anything that goes against the forum guidelines monster so kindly posted.

Many people find it disturbing, this relentless robotic so called creative marketing from scott.
They should be able to voice their opinion, while ofcourse staying inside the boundaries of decency.

PS
Note that im not pointing a finger at you, that you conducted yourself in manner like above.

And finally THIS:
Encouraging respectful behavior. People come from all over the world to share their experiences and knowledge and to raise awareness about issues that are important to them. This means that you may encounter opinions that are different from yours, which we believe can lead to important conversations about difficult topics. To help balance the needs, safety, and interests of a diverse community, however, we may remove certain kinds of sensitive content, move them to a different section, and/or limit the audience that sees it. With that said, if you happen to have issue(s) with someone else on the site, you must discuss and resolve it/them amongst yourselves. The staff won't take any part, nor sides on member against member discussions.

I'm not sure I've ever used this one.... but I think now is as good a time as any.

 (fat free, low sodium popcorn of course)
