GM has started to work on the next generation Opel Antara/Chevrolet Captiva and they are hiding the new platform under this chopped up Chevrolet Orlando.

Said to be based on a new platform called D2XX, the new compact crossovers will be ready for the market in 2015. The D2XX platform will also underpin the new Chevrolet Cruze due in 2014.

So how can we assume that the Chevrolet Orlando on the photos is really a mule for the next Antara/Captiva? A quick look under the car reveals a 4X4 system (Orlando is not available with 4X4) and twin exhaust pipes. The wheelbase is slightly shorter then on the Orlando and the front end is also chopped up to make room for the new engine and cooling.

The new Antara/Captiva will have nothing in common with the looks of the Orlando but might just get some influences from the Opel Mokka design.

Chevrolet is an American automobile division of the manufacturer General Motors (GM). In North America, Chevrolet produces and sells a wide range of vehicles, from subcompact automobiles to medium-duty commercial trucks. Due to the prominence and name recognition of Chevrolet as one of General Motors' global marques, "Chevrolet" or its affectionate nickname 'Chevy' or is used at times as a synonym for General Motors or its products, one example being the GM LS1 engine, commonly known by the name or a variant thereof of its progenitor, the Chevrolet small-block engine.
