Giulia Speculative - Alfa Romeo Giulia (159 replacement)

The Alfa Romeo Giulia is a compact executive car produced by Alfa Romeo. Known internally as the Type 952, it was unveiled in June 2015, with market launch scheduled for February 2016, and it is the first saloon offered by Alfa Romeo after the production of the 159 ended in 2011.
Looks great.....

BUT....

The license plate in the front will be an utter disaster again. I dislike the license-plate-on-the-side design with a passion. Will ruin the whole front.

In some ways, it does seem very Italian - No Government and their license plate should dictate our design!

I do get what you are saying - It never really bothered me, probably because of that 156...

Drifting off to a time, where Arese V6 consumption was nooo problem, because my dad paid for the fuel bills... ; )

Surely, those headlights are not xenon, right?

Does anyone think Jaguar f***ed Alfa up, when it designed taillights for the F-Type? IMHO, they still have some Alfa Romeo vibe to them, and it would suit better than these... generic, Korean/American taillights.

Where has there ever been anything concrete about this, it's all rumour; now that the Old Man has been disposed off I don't think we will ever hear about it again.

Yes Sergio fought to keep Alfa Romeo VAG free.

That I do agree with. Delightful.

Particularly because VAG badly wants (wanted) to buy Alfa, and if they did they brand would have become a generic Audi/Seat/Skoda FWD people mover clone like all VAG cars.

The front number plate attached at the side is as Italian as spaghetti :D
Its a quirk but very Alfa as it allows the Heart shaped grille to be very prominent. So far it looks good, but they should have retained the hidden rear door handle which was hijacked by the ahem "Spanish" Alfa Romeo.

^And from the front, it looks like an Alfa-esque version of the Jaguar XF-R...With all due respect to Alfa Romeo and their history of beautifully designed cars, not sure if I'm feeling this one

Notice how similar the silhouettes of these four cars are:

BMW F30 3er
Infiniti Q50
Jaguar XE
Alfa Romeo Giulia

Take away the design detail flourishes and brand identity-based styling elements and the cars are remarkably similar in overall form and proportion.

If you look carefully enough, the outer edges of the headlights have an almost-identical shape to that of the BMW F10 5er as well

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I like what i see. Designers have emerged that I think its almost impossible to bring 100% original design like it used to be. I see hints of BMW, Lexus, Jaguar and some others but I still find it appealing.
