So, I got to visit the Frankfurt Motor Show yesterday (Saturday, Sept 23rd), and got to see what most people have been curious about in flesh. I entered the Messe premises, and decided to start straight from the Mercedes-Benz stand, just to alleviate my curiosity on the so-called buzz car of the show.... So once again, here is my personal take on some of the highlights of the show.

Mercedes-AMG Project ONE:
For months, we've been hearing about this car, and how it is expected to blow away the hypercar competition; and to be frank, until a day or two after the release, I was quite unfazed about the whole hoopla. Even after the release on Sept 11th, albeit I was impressed, I was still reluctant to buy into the hype straight away, but my God this car had won me over....Picture after picture, video after video, I felt infatuation I hadn't felt since the debuts of the Porsche 918 and the Bugatti Chiron. Even then, part of me kept dwelling on some people's criticism about the front not being aggressive enough and all that jazz; so by going to visit MB first, I was determined to address the metaphorical elephant in the room straight away..... I've spent about half and hour around the car, seeing it and processing the looks from every angle, and I must say, I'm head over heels guys...I'M ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, AND MADLY IN LOVE!!! The back, the side profile, the fin, the wheels, and even the controversial front...Everything fits into the "form follows function" philosophy Merc have adopted while developing this truly magnificent piece of engineering...Heard some rumors behing close doors that the power figure will not just exceed 1000 bhp, but in fact be way above it (according to the CAR magazine, the expected power output is around 1134 bhp)....That said, even with the monstrous power, the mind-bending acceleration and the prospective lap times aside, I have to say that I've been absolutely captivated by the car....2019 simply cannot come soon enough, and this car shoots its way straight to the top of my "dream garage"...

Bugatti Chiron:
Already gave my 2 cents on the Chiron after my visit to the GIMS earlier this year, which you can read below. But the color combo of the World Record car they've displayed this time was simply mega!!! So yeah, can I have a Chiron for leisurely speeding and a Project ONE for tearing up the track all at the same time? One of each please

Bentley Continental GT:
Since the first VAG-designed Conti GT was released back in 2003, I always felt as though the Germans have not really understood the zest and the soul of the Bentley brand very well. For me, the Continental GT just looked, rode and felt like a pimped out Volkswagen/Audi somehow. As a result, I got to grow cold on Bentley in time, and never looked at any of their models with any meaningful interest. Sure, they were all good cars with added German common sense, but none of them ever really cut the mustard for me... Of course, I will be following the test drives of the new model with great interest, but purely from a visual persective, in flesh, I am delighted announce the magic is back!! The exterior details look exquisite, and the interior looks so damn beautiful that if you were to fit in into a 500K-600K car, it would feel appropriate... If only I were allowed to get even closer to the car (sigh). With all that said and done, since Bentley was taken over by the Germans, this is the first time I can honestly confirm, guys, BENTLEY IS BACK!!!

It's been a long weekend everyone, so I will resume my thoughts tomorrow, so stay tuned

Haven't seen the Valkyrie (except for a mock-up at Geneva in March), so I cannot pass judgment on that

we know that the front of the valkyrie drops cooling in favour of aerodynamics and that the entire rear is dominated by a BIG diffuser

even KYLE.DRIVES pointed out that merc was going more for a drivetrain approach and having similar downforce to todays hypercars than the valkyrie

The thread was meant to share my personal impressions of the IAA, not about what I saw on some Australian/New Zealander college student's vlog
