Skoda boss says next Superb will be a 'revelation', V6 engine to be dropped

Skoda chief Winfried Vahland has disclosed preliminary details about the next generation Superb.

We already heard from Skoda's head designer Jozef Kaban the new Superb will adopt a striking design and now the company's boss Winfried Vahland says the car will be a "revelation" as far as styling and execution are concerned. He added the model will remain the firm's flagship model for the next ten years and will be available as a sedan and estate.

The dual sedan/hatchback tailgate boot opening will be dropped as Vahland says it's too expensive. The V6 engine will be axed since Skoda has announced a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter will be the biggest offering in terms of motorization since the Czech automaker wants to focus on improving fuel economy and lowering the curb weight.

The next generation of the Skoda Superb will ride on Volkswagen's MQB platform and will share as much as 50 percent of its components with the Passat. Skoda is aiming to improve the vehicle's aerodynamic efficiency and just like their other cars, the Superb is expected to be larger than segment rivals.

eek Skoda doing a Volvo, I don't see 4 cylinder only working for Volvo but it might for Skoda.
