911 Shocking 911 GT2 crash only 4hrs after buying car!

The Porsche 911 model series (pronounced Nine Eleven or in German: Neunelf) is a family of German two-door, high performance rear-engine sports cars, introduced in September 1964 by Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany.
Driving a car that fast within 4 hours of purchase is risky. It's better to gradually learn the car before aiming for the limiter in 6th gear. The 911 is tail happy and being able to correct the rear at 275km/h isn't a still mastered in four hours.

The state of the wreck supports the allegation. My opinion stems from the information at hand - irrespective of its validity.

If the 911 GT2 RS was parked on a railway line and got ploughed into by a freight train then I'll humbly apologise. But, when a supercar ends up looking like that, the odds are overwhelmingly in favour of:

Speed far too high
Inability on the part of the driver to recognise the level of anticipation required at such speeds
Lack of sufficient situational assessment of the road and surroundings

= inexperience. That or either the guy was getting head, was intoxicated or willfully suicidal.

Or, what alternative is being considered? That the guy was Walter Rohrl and was minding his own business at 160 mph on a deserted country road four lanes wide and unluckily got a combine harvester dropped on him by a C130?

It is possible that a tyre blew out. It's possible there was some mechanical failure. It's even possible that the accident was not the drivers fault at all, for example the throttle may have become stuck.

What is the point of speculating about the cause and treating that speculation as fact.

Sure, I agree with all you said. But in this particular case we don't know how much time this driver has spent driving GT2 RS cars. If I wanted to speculate about probabilities I would say that I don't think a lot of GT2 RS buyers are new to Porsche 911s.

Fair enough - you're right, it is possible - and yes, it is speculation. Could've been an obstacle in the road, could've, could've...

The only real fact: we don't know what caused the accident exactly.

I however choose to speculate on the massive likelihood - based on statistical causes of fatal accidents - of the driver being the weakest link in the equation. Example - just look at the GT-R vid that Deckhook posted. Was that a failure on any part other than that of the driver? Of course this needn't constitute any correlation whatsoever with the GT2 RS incident but let's be rational and consider the value of prevalence in the context of fatal, high-speed accidents.

Got killed doing a very high speed (enough to mangle a car like that) on a public road? The lesser possibility is that it wasn't your fault* and the far greater possibility is that as a driver of even moderate skill - you were simply out of your depth.
By my reckoning 160 mph is way, way too fast on any open public road.

I gave an advanced driver training course for Subaru this Saturday past. No BS, you can look up www.baobab.co.za (to whom I sub-contract) ask for Sonja and verify if you wish.

My parting message is always the same: "In the space of a day, I can't be expected to improve your physical driving skills to the level of a professional. Instead all I can do is arm you with the experience and driver-eduction to recognise the risks inherent in the activity of driving". In my opinion, this driver did not recognise the exponentially rising risks inherent in doing 160 mph (purportedly) - irrespective of what factors lead to the crash - on a public road. Same goes for mr GT-R driver on the previous page.

* Well it actually was because you were doing circa 160 mph - what part of supposed experience would lead one to make such a poor decision to go that fast?

If you drive at 160 mph on public roads (and it is not autobahn or something like that), and get into an accident it is your fking fault. Period. Doen't matter if the tire blew out or a squirrel decided to cross the street. You were asking for it and chance/fate/nature complied.
