Good lord that looked awful, but if you notice the passenger cell stayed intact. I'd bet the driver survived that with some injury, but not life threatening.

I believe he was just a little bruised, and he got out of the car on his own. That was from the Rolex Sports Car Series race at Mid-Ohio.

Serious accidents? If you want to see serious accidents, get some clips of 1960s, 1970s Formula One. The safety standards were shocking. I've seen some before. I will post links to them here if I find them floating about online.
