M5 finally arrived.... serious piece of kit.

Congrats on the new M5 Bob. What a stunning car!

Not sure who I'm jealous of most, your M5 or my colleagues new Aston Vantage SP10 (which I had the pleasure of starting up today!)

Monte Carlo Blue is my favourite BMW blue, suits the M5 very well. More pics please.

She pigging at the moment because it's been out at my site where he's building my new house but I'll make sure she's cleaned up for the weekend and I'll get some great pics for you.... weather permitting.

Took this yesterday whilst up at the brothers house, notice the SLK in the background just waiting collection.

My driving has been limited at the moment because it's the brother's new baby and he's holding on to it most of the time. lol

But I have driven it enough to get an early impression of the car and how it drives. Firstly despite having only 19" rims it's still on the firm side of comfortable, not uncomfortable but you do feel road imperfections that the Cayenne easily ironed out. Next is the steering feel, I'd probably place it on par with the Cayenne which is a surprise given that car's lofty stance by comparison, one thing that really separates them is the lean into corners or should I say the lack of in the M5.

Its a big heavy car by the stats and this is the impression you get from behind the wheel, it's no Lotus but with this weight gives a sense of solidness and security that's similar to a big SUV.

The poke, well what can I say despite not using more than 5500rpm this thing is a rocket but it's less a feeling of speed through your senses compared to watching the speedo climb at an alarming rate. You really need to keep your wits about you or your license would be gone in no time at all.

As I'm a man the idea of looking a manual means your defeated but for the life of me I can't find the menu to switch on/off the engine sound through the speakers, not sure if this is no longer available but I sure as hell can't find it.

BTW both the seats and the steering wheel are among the very best I've experienced, the seats grip my cuddly frame (my wife's words) and that wheel is a pleasure to hold.

Standard stereo is OK, sound wise is decent enough but there's no huge amounts of volume available but he's a Radio 5 fan so enough for him.

I've yet to try it but the boot looks big enough to accept the sons chair with the wheels removed and will know for sure tomorrow as he's requested collection from school in the beast, if not the boot the frame will fit in the back seat.

Compared to an RS Audi this car attracts less attention which some might be annoyed at but I find a blessing.

Overall great car and worthy of the badge.

Collecting my Range Rover Sport on Friday which is 2 weeks ahead of schedule.

I told you BMW disliked me. LOL

Will post pictures either Friday or Saturday.

P.S.
A business associate has just ordered an M4 so when he gets it I shall get a drive and post my thoughts.

They were available all along, you just weren't using them!

I was the one handing back his SLK and the guy doing the assessing its condition said he also does the same for BMW finance and if you don't get the 1200 mile service done you will be seriously hit when your lease is over.

I don't think that's the point ACE was making, but never mind.
