A little tool my friend out me onto, well not so much a tool as a website with a tool.

Here's how it works, you see a video on YouTube and decide I wish I could save that enter the above hyperlink in a separate browser page/tab if using Firefox and copy the hyperlnk from youtube and select the format you would like the video in. And basically it will covert it to the option you chose and allow you to save it to hard drive for future viewing, emailing etc.
I have tried it and ir does work. Probably most handy for converting the films to 3gp so you can put them on your mobile phone.
It is a little slow but handy nonethless.
