Chiron [Rumors] Bugatti Chiron Successor

Post number 199 has been selected as best answered.

The Bugatti Chiron is a mid-engine two-seater sports car designed and developed in Germany by Bugatti Engineering GmbH. It was manufactured in Molsheim, France, by French automobile manufacturer Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.. The successor to the Bugatti Veyron, the Chiron was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show on 1 March 2016.

That’s comparing apples to oranges. Bugatti make hyper GTs, Ferrari makes hyper cars. It’s like a people who are into sailing boats vs motor boats. Same type of vehicle but completely different approaches and cultures.
Maybe you're right. But you just know there will be some owners, with both of these cars on order, who are going to use them interchangeably and never go to track in either. And they will see and feel the difference between them and wonder: why did I really buy the Ferrari?

A little look from the inside

Behind the wheel you do the same way you would an:
Golf R vs Civic Type R
C63 vs M4
911 GT3 vs SL63
812 vs Aventador

The cars are in the same segments but offer different levels of comfort or smiles per gallon. A buyer might like one but find the other either too boring or too uncomfortable.

Fair enough. I don't want to judge F250 too harshly, before it's even unveiled. I guess what I'm trying to say is, Ferrari still act like they do luxury products. But when a typical Ferrari interior across the board is glossy, plastic, capacitive control mess, it has really gotten as far away from luxury as possible. Hopefully this will slap some sense into them.

The rear view of the car is absolutely epic. Seeing the rear tyres sticking out is so muscular and gives it the impression of a well shaped body builder.

Beautiful piece of art and amazing engineering 👏. The interior detailing is on Rolls- Royce level in certain aspects.

The steering wheel is rather large for a sports car, though.

So not ONE mention of the 8 speed DCT OEM or Manufacturer? Interesting.

Seen as EVERY Bugatti W16 has an English Ricardo Transmission I'd guess the new unit is their's.

So that's possibly Cosworth and Ricardo Engine and Transmission. Essentially the entire powertrain in bulk.

So yeah, f#cking epic.

Too preoccupied trying to figure out how on Earth have they managed to package a V16 and a longitudinal transmission while stretching the wheelbase only 3 cm, to even think about the manufacturer :)

As expected, this car is a huge win for Bugatti!

When there were the first leaks that they are aiming for 2t weight, I was skeptical, but they seem pretty adamant, so let's see. That would be a huge achievement already. Battery alone is 200kg as predicted.

Engine - amazing, of course. You could even say that in the hypercar world, there are now two kinds of cars: those that have NA engines from Cosworth; and everyone else. This is especially embarrassing for Ferrari if they use the same TT V6 from 296 in their flag ship hypercar. Although, one thing that has to be said, is that it apparently weighs 252kg (I predicted 250kg). So it's 46kg heavier than the Valkyrie engine while making the same power or even slightly less. Still, though, a worthy sacrifice to get the glory of 16 cylinders.

Interior - also amazing. This, together with the Utopia and the T.50, completes the triumvirate of the best interiors available today. Though, what I am not so sure about, is that robotized screen. Some, like RR, have done that before and it doesn't really work (especially if the whole action takes so long). Either you have it on, or you don't - so you will probably have it on almost always. And if that's true, then they might as well have just gone with a proper fixed screen, not one so small.

Exterior - I like it from certain angles, like in the profile, but overall I am not too impressed. First off, the horseshoe grill is too big and too extended forward, and as a result the whole front of the car is not very harmonious. It looks a bit like a horse's face. Second, it really does look too similar to the Chiron. People are gonna be mistaking these cars, like they are already mistaking the Utopia with the Huayra. They should have gone for a more distinct and unique design. I am also a bit surprised that the stylists warned Mate to not make the car longer - since the elongated Super Sport was, in my opinion, the best looking Chiron of them all.

I don't know how accurate this video is of the acceleration of the car, but I timed it several times and the times given by Bugatti seems very conservative at higher speeds.

0-100km/h - 2sec
0-200km/h - 4.4sec
0-300km/h - 9sec
0-400km/h - 16sec
0-440km/h - 22sec
0-445km/h - 25sec

I think they have put a slow limiter after 440km/h to curb it at 445km/h as it looks like it has still plenty of power to go faster.

That's a lot more acceleration than Bugatti claims, and I hope it will come true

I was expecting it to have a long-tail, like the last versions of the Chiron. I guess we will get it in future versions….
