Chiron [Rumors] Bugatti Chiron Successor

Post number 199 has been selected as best answered.

The Bugatti Chiron is a mid-engine two-seater sports car designed and developed in Germany by Bugatti Engineering GmbH. It was manufactured in Molsheim, France, by French automobile manufacturer Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.. The successor to the Bugatti Veyron, the Chiron was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show on 1 March 2016.

This interview is very interesting.
So Chiron replacement almost became an electric coupe SUV or a reskinned Nevera? Damn. Big respect for Mate Rimac for going with the 1m long hybrid N/A V16! He is truly one of the greats alongside Christian Von Koenigsegg and Horacio Pagani.

Interesting that the electric hype is dying in general. Nevera not selling out after all the hype and marketing must be dissapointing for the company.

^it's also interesting that Mate readily admits all 150 haven't sold. They've been available for almost 2 years now. Meanwhile, the Chiron successor, if it isn't already sold out from the private previews, I bet it will be on June 20th.
The hyper car segment is over saturated. The base price of the Chiron successor is probably a Ludacris 3-4m EUR.

Now imagine how badly the competition must be doing: Owl, Evija and Battista.
Hyper EVs are already over.
Owl - Not really sure. There has been one example (the first car made apparently) that has been put up for auction recently, but when you go to the auction website, it doesn't even say that it has been sold. Otherwise they currently seem to be on some sort of world tour showing the car at various events around the globe to garner interest. They plan to make 50, but as for how many they've already sold... it looks to be in single digits, if not outright zero (only 2 cars on ECR, both being listed as "for sale").

Battista - They plan to make 150. In 2022 TG reported that "half" of that is sold (or at least reserved). No further news since then (although I might have missed some), and the number of cars delivered seems to be very low so far - only 10 cars listed on ECR, with some of them being prototypes/show cars.

Evija - They plan to make 130. They've sold 8 of the Fittipaldi Edition and in 2022 they said that the "first year of production" was sold out - but the first year would only be about 10 cars. Lotus claims to have "a huge amount of interest", but no concrete numbers have ever emerged.

The Nevera, so far, looks to be the most successful out of all of them with roughly 30 sold and likely more on the way. Either way, EV hypercars indeed seem to be a huge bust.

I think you can add the Nio EP9 to that list. It apparently maybe only sold a handful only in China.

The EP9 has never been road legal in the first place, so that doesn't even enter the conversation.

Apparently the car's going under hammer on June 30th.

But I wouldn't expect any super high bids consider the following:
As the first version of the Owl, this example does have some mild cosmetic flaws, but presents well.

BTW, I can't believe there's an auction house named after Supercar Blondie. What a wild timeline to be living in 🙃

Wait a second! Having now read this article, there is no direct quote for the claim of not having sold out all 150 build slots. He only speaks about deliveries!!!

"We do have a market for the Nevera, and it is the best-sold electric hypercar. We have already delivered more than 50 cars out of a total of 150."

Meanwhile c#nts at Carscoops just ran with it and turned the clickbait-making machine to 11:

That's a good catch, but they probably really haven't sold all 150. At the very least, you can still register interest on Rimac's website.

I agree. But for Carscoops to conflate the two, like this is, and to call it a sales flop is outrageous. I'd be fuming if I was Mate.
Yeah, that's pretty shameless - or maybe just sloppy. But hey, look at the bright side - they are still quoting the old power figure of 1914PS, although we have known for years that's just the e-motor output and the battery can deliver only 1840PS. Shitty journalism gives, and shitty journalism takes away.

That's not the point. The point is that almost no-one is interested in an EV hypercar. And there's nothing ludacris about 3 million EUR when your watch alone costs more.

There's nothing over saturated in the hypercar market actually. These cars all sell out, and quickly. We live in a completely messed up society right now.

Oh no! How dare they be 4% off :ROFLMAO:

I don't think Mate cares. He wouldn't have made it public otherwise. It is what it is; not a sales flop maybe, but not the talk of the town either.

You are not wrong!

I've already said it and I'll say it again, EV hypercars at X million aren't appealing to wealthy customers, even Mr. Rimac realizes that.

Unlike ICE and hybrid hypercars, which sell like hotcakes!

I would sum it up by saying that:
-The nivera is not sexy and its performance is comparable to a Model A plaid.

-A Chiron is sexy but its performance is not comparable to an 911 Carrera S.

Nevera is from another timezone compared to Plaid in a straight line:

I think the main issue for the lack of sales is the styling, it’s boring, a hypercar should be an event, when you see one it should excite you, his car is so boring looking why would you bother when you could buy the Battista which gives you the ball squeeze the Rimac lacks.
They've sold even less.
